Agreed 100% with likescarrots. I never even remotely linked this song to the thoughts of suicide.. that's just looking WAY too deep into the lyrics. I like this song's message, and there are quite a few people out there who have drifted off somewhere alone for a while to "renew" themselves, find their purpose and come back fired-up.
Ultimately I think this song is about burning-out, finding some sort of solace, having an epiphany, and coming to the realization that he has to step out of his comfort zone and make some serious adjustments to his life to bring some light back into it. Hours of Wealth = Serious Productive/Constructive alone time to help better your life, no more beating around the bush, and kicking old bad habits.
I honestly can't see how you could derive religion from a song like this. I used to be religious once, until I did my homework and found out it was nothing but mythical-storytelling bullshit. Take care now.
