I think this song is about a person who has screwed up a lot in his past, and everyone has turned their backs on him. He never thinks of anything but the problems he has and has had. and raine's saying "hey don't worry. you've got a friend in me" and then the second verse is like the person hates being on the outside, but he can't leave it. He's just drawn to it. Raine says to keep quiet- no one has to know everything bad from your past. then at the end the person is reflecting on his past and wondering if this new friendship could possibly last.
