Yesterday, there was so many things
I was never told
Now that I'm startin' to learn
I feel I'm growin' old
'Cause yesterday's got nothin' for me
Old pictures that I'll always see
Time just fades the pages
In my book of memories
Prayers in my pocket
And no hand in destiny
I'll keep on movin' along
With no time to plant my feet
'Cause yesterday's got nothin' for me
Old pictures that I'll always see
Some things could be better
If we'd all just let them be
Yesterday's got nothin' for me
Yesterday's got nothin' for me
Got nothin' for me
Yesterday there were so many things
I was never shown
Suddenly this time I found
I'm on the streets and I'm all alone
Yesterday's got nothin' for me
Old pictures that I'll always see
I ain't got time to reminisce old novelties
Yesterday's got nothin' for me
Yesterday's got nothin' for me
Yesterday's got nothin' for me
Yesterday

@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday".
I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.

Don't fret over the past, move on. Forget about yesterday and look to tomorrow.
"When one door of happiness closes, another opens; but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one which has been opened for us." -Hellen Keller
Don't let worrying about the past destroy your future.
This song is about leaving the past behind...keep focused on the future, don't let your past haunt you. This is a really nice song....I read somewhere that it is about Axl's troubled childhood.....
I love this song because it is simple but really nice. And Slash's solo is electrifying as usual. Like you guys have already mentioned, this song is about forgetting your troubled past as axl did. He was ragged in high school for living like a Rockstar. And I'd like to cortrect some people here. Axl did not do excess of dope, he was an alcohol addict.
In the video to this song Steven Adler is shown in flashbacks more than anyone else I think this song is sort of dedicated to him, basicly saying "You were a good friend but goodbye"
Yeah, but if that's the case ... is it a dedication or are they saying they don't need Steven?

"Yesterday's got nothin' for me. Old pictures that I'll always see. Time just fades the pages in my book of memories."
I find the 'book of memories' line hilarious. I can imagine Axl needing one after wrecking his own brain with drugs.
This song is great. Like everybody else was saying, it is about leaving behind ... The live version on Yesterday Single is the greatest version of it..
great song to listen to, and great song itself. i love GN'R well at least the original band gn'r wit slash duff axl n steve. now axl has wrecked the name gn'r by attempting to come back wit new ppl.
i'm sorry, this has nothing to do with the song, but...OLD GUNS WITH SLASh, DUFF AND STEVE???? WHERE THE F.U.C.K IS IZZY!!!!! HE WAS A PART OF THE ORIGINAL GNR, A BIG PART OF THE ORIGINAL GNR!!!!!!!

izzy rocks!!!
yes on reading metallica fans very good opinion,to which i agree completeley (although matt wasn't a bad drummer)
Izzy stradlin made the band with Axl originaly and was the very cornerstone of the band
So when axl ruined the band and izzy left GNR fell apart
I'm glad people see this. IZZY was THE MAN!
I'm truly glad smbody sees that Izzy was important...I love Izzy...
This song appeals to me so much. It helped me to forget about this girl I used to like but thankfully she is in my past. Excellent song.
regos the sane, did you actually know that axl was the one who took less drugs from all the fabulous gnr quintet?
About leaving the past behind and looking to the future. It could possibly have some shrouded meaning to Steve Adler, but I'm not too sure. Maybe I'm reading waaaaaaay too deep into it.
