i walked home, you drove off.
you probably slept more than i did.
the monkey wrench inside my chest
told me not to run.

from a stranger to a stranger:
"why don't we talk a while?
i've got nothing to lose
but the chance to make you smile."

just be calm, just be cool,
and i won't make any sudden moves.
and while you wait
i'll try to say a joke or two you haven't heard.

from a stranger to a stranger:
"we both could do much worse.
so i hope that one of these nights
you'll use that number in your purse
cuz lonliness is who i know.
perhaps he's someone you know,
a mutual friend of ours."

i'm a nerd, you're a queen.
so how about a date?
i didn't know you saw the show.
i thought i saw you leave.

from a stranger to a stranger:
"i could use a ride back home."

i could point out the stars
and we won't have to sleep alone, alone.
this lonliness is who i know.
perhaps he's someone you know.

there's a million words
that i've been saving for a rainy day,
and a million tricks that i could use,
and i'd use them all at once
if that's what i have to do.

i'll find a way to make you stay,
at least until i find another reason, anyway.

i haven't felt this way
since my first day of school.
it's a wish for me to make history with you, with you.

there's a million words
i've been saving for a rainy day,
and a million tricks that i could use,
and i'd juse them all at once
if that's what i have to do.

i'd find a way to make you stay,
least till i find another reason, anyway.
until i find another reason. (2x)

i'd find a way to make you stay
until i find another reason.
(3x)

I love this song. Reminds me of my ex. heh. "I've got nothing to lose / but a chance to make you smile." Brilliant.

This song gives me the same vibes as Only In Dreams by Weezer: a self-confessed nerd dreams of asking a beautiful girl to dance, and dares to hope she might even say yes and take a chance on a sensitive guy for once... "Cause loneliness is who I know, perhaps he's someone you know, a mutual friend of ours": I think he's talking about how they move in different social circles, but maybe loneliness is 'someone they both know'... it's a beautiful song.

Man, this is was a song for me and my ex. I'd have it as a personalized ringtone so I'd know it's her when it'd start up. Cheesy!

    1. I LOVE this song. For real

    2. Unrelated to that, I have to say I would honestly be disappointed to find out that this song was not the main inspiration for fall out boy. Or a lot of emo bands. Not that I'm even a big fan of theirs, but it just makes sense to me. "I've Got a Dark Alley and A Bad Idea that Says You Should Shut Your Mouth" anyone?

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/
