Ever get the feeling ideals can't take us where we need to go?
Sometimes I'd like to just maybe squash your head,
But next time that I see you
I'll probably just smile and say hello
Next time that star shoots across the sky
I'm gonna grab it and smash it under my feet

Who wants to be happy?
I'll sleep on the floor and I'll just lock my door
So Dave don't come and tell me "turn down that shit you play"
I wonder what it would be like to be real deep and dark
Typical and boring yea that's me
If I made up the rules you would be not so close to me

all i know is that adam, the lead singer of TAKING BACK SUNDAY, loves this band. he told my friend about them.. and the next time that star shoots across the sky i'm gonna grab it and smash it under my feet my friend said was the inspiration for one of adam's tattoos.. which is on one of his arms. and "irony for suckers", the title of one of their songs is in their lyrics for "there's no 'i' in team.".. adam recommended lifetime as a great band to listen to and one of his influences.. kudos to adam and the rest of taking back sunday!

haha- i was just going to post that about adam from tbs. i love that guy, he's so cool. yeah- he's the one that told me to listen to lifetime and i am forever a fan now and forever grateful. the "next time that a star shoots..." lyric is encircled around his elbow- it fuckin kicks ass and so does he.

this song is great. some lyrics are missing, though. after "smile and just say hello," it should say "what's wrong with me? oh, can't you see," then go into the line adam has tattoed on his elbow. the line wasn't the inspiration for his tattoo - it IS his tattoo: "next time that star shoots across the sky."

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Ed Sheeran shares a short story of reconnecting with an old flame on “American Town.” The track is about a holiday Ed Sheeran spends with his countrywoman who resides in America. The two are back together after a long period apart, and get around to enjoying a bunch of fun activities while rekindling the flames of their romance.
