This is one of their best songs from their self-titled, in my opinion. The dissonance throughout the chorus that never quite resolves correctly adds strength to the uncomfortable feeling of the song.
"I can take every drop of your spit until you see you don't fit it is time" I'm pretty sure that's what the words are...But I love how it's every drop of spit. It's gross, isn't it? It's an interesting way of saying that God doesn't mind our weirdness, our mistakes..the things we're ashamed of. He takes it all in the package - He made us and He loves us.
Overall, it's saying to rely on God. He can take it, He can pick us up out of the sin and slime of the world around us, and He will love us and fight for us no matter how little we think we're worth. "Why is it that you must fight alone?" He wants to take it for us. He knows our hearts better than we do; "I've known you before you did, so don't you play no charade." The meaning is simple, but this is their first album. It's expected to be simple and straightforward.
