"The Blue Sky" as written by Pal Waaktaar....
The blue sky (blue sky)
The blue sky (blue sky)
The blue sky (blue sky)
The blue sky

I find it hard to breathe
As life just eats away
At the faces that surround me
They look tired today
The lady at my table
Doesn´t want me here
I just want to talk to her

But would she laugh at my accent
And make fun of me
Oh, it doesn´t seem like this
Blue sky´s here for me

There are no girls in here
As far as I can see
Only pin-up posters
Looking down at me
Watching papercups of coffee
Growing cold before my eyes
All the things I see
That make me realize

I´m in this big world without you
Nothing to my name
Oh, I never knew that
Blue sky meant such pain

The blue sky (blue sky)
The blue sky (blue sky)
The blue sky (blue sky)
The blue sky

I´m dying to be different
In the coffee shop
I´ve lived on borrowed strength
Now my supplies are cut
Though I´m older than my looks
And older than my years
I´m too young to take on
My deepest fears

Oh, I used to be confused
But now I just don´t know
Since you left I´ve been watching
Blue skies come and go
(Blue sky)
Since you left I´ve been watching
Blue skies come and go
(Blue sky)

General CommentIt is a great song. It's interesting that not all people pick up the "desperation" in the tune. To me, that is very evident.

The meaning of the lyrics is quite literal: he is sad/desperate over a girl who left him.

What's not evident is that the "Blue Sky" is the name of a coffee shop. Knowing this, "the lady at my table" or "dying to be different in the coffee shop", or "the faces that surrond me" make a lot more sense.

Also, the coffee shop must be somewhere in North America (anyone want to guess where?), since he mentions that "she" may laugh at his accent :)

General CommentI personally think this song is the bands way of expressing how difficult it was for them to leave Norway to try make it in the music industry and how hard it was for them to leave the people they loved behind. It would be a daunting experience to go from Norway to America.

General CommentI love this song, even though it is one of their lesser known ones. Something I love is the lyrics' versatility; whoever this person is, he needs them to be confident ... how they left him, who they were (no, it doesn't seem to have to be a girlfriend; could be anyone close), the whole context ... it's left up to the listener
