With blankness staring back at me
And screaming from the pages
I feel the fear of apathy
Gripping me, pushing me on
Top of everything
In the corner with a view
I turn off the fluorescent tubes

This is the bomb that I’ve been waiting for, living for
You finally lit the fuse that’s in my head
Yes, you finally lit the fuse that’s in my head

With nothingness on top of me
And bleeding from my folder
Only you can stop the emptiness
Don’t let it take me over

I’ve been sinking down
Further into nothing
I’ve been waiting long
Longer then for some things

This is the bomb that I’ve been waiting for, living for
You finally lit the fuse that’s in my head
Yes, you finally lit the fuse that’s in my head
Yea, you finally lit the fuse that’s in my head
Yes, you finally lit the fuse that’s in my head

General CommentDid somebody call for a Christian?! lol....
To me this song is about being at school (hence the page and the folder) and stuck with a depressive teenage attitude. The 'fuse' IS Chritianity in my opinion. God puts some purpose in is life, something to live for. All the 'you's in the song are refering to God, only he can stop him from feeling this way. The fuse has been lit and its heading towards the bomb. The bomb is whatever we want it to be - making an impact on our world.
Anyways thats how i interpret this song.
    Hope it helps

General CommentI like the school message but because switchfoot stays on one subject for the entire song normally, I've been called out to give a more holistic perspective.
I love the bass too. What a way to start a CD

The screaming pages, and the bleeding folder to me are the bible, the bomb for which we were waiting.
Jesus happens to be "only you" to keep us from the emptiness. The blankness happens to be the world, empty -- that the "fluorescent tube" or TV and apathy must be turned from.
The bomb happens to be God that lights the fuse or turns on the light (refering to an inspiration or idea) to share the gospel.

General CommentThat would make a little more sense when you're trying to decipher the songs meaning! anyhow, I'm not sure who hes talking to in this song so that makes things a little more interesting. I'm not really the biggest Switchfoot fan so that makes things even more intereseting. More people need to log on here to tell me what they mean! c'mon CHRISTIANS!

General CommentHe absolutely called for christians. If it hasnt dawned on you yet that Switchfoot is a christian act, then you need to wake up. This song is about God, plain and simple.

General Commentdamn!! whats with all the christ-bots automatically attaching a religious meaning to all of Switchfoots songs? I know they're christians, but that doesn't mean EVERY piece of work they produce will be religion-orriented

I take this song to just be a typical description of teenage angst :P
