The buzz of electric lamplight
From down on the sidewalk
You struggle, grasp your night-shirt and turn
But the universe doesnæ?° say what you want it to say
The universe says, just what it says, when it says what it says

but on the planet earth, spinning around its axis
Revolving around the sun, revolving around the center
Of the milky way galaxy in a supercluster of galaxies
Will it ever be you and me here and now?

your consoling hands in a gesture
Well placed and throbbing
Throbbing with the buzz of electric lamplight
From down on the sidewalk
But the universe doesnæ?° say what you want it to say
The universe says, just what it says, when it says what it says

the buzz of electric lamplight
From down on the sidewalk
You struggle, grasp your night-shirt and turn
But the universe doesnæ?° say what you want it to say
The universe says, just what it says, when it says what it says

quanta, mesons, hadrons, photons, neutrons, electrons and protons combining to form
Atoms and molecules and compounds and cells, tissues and organs in a system of a being
On the planet earth, spinning around its axis, revolving around the sun, revolving around
The center of the milky way galaxy in a supercluster of galaxies will it ever be you and me here and now?

It sounds like someone just left a lecture on the Big Bang and decided to write a song. If you feel like overanalyzing, the lyrics convey a sense that we are very small, lonely creatures in a vast, cold universe. However, I seriuosly doubt that a band calling themselves The Ernies would take such a philosophical stance. I don't know, maybe I'm underestimating them.

Tell me that playing the first level of Tony Hawk with playing this song doesn't bring back some amazing memeories. I know it does for me cause this song was always on repeat. But yeah I have to agree with the guy above me. It does seem like they just copied the notes they took that day in physics and turned it into a kick ass song.

The wonders of weed ... it bought be to the following conclusion about this track. I think it's about how massive the wold/universe is (obviously!) but its also about getting with a girl. "will it ever be you and me". He's basically saying that the universe is so big, so what will you lose if we just try. Kinda, will we ever get together? It's all about whats here and what we've got now ... "here and now". Yeah...

Um, I agree with the guys above me....but of course must have my little input in here

I think it's about a guy saying how the universe is so huge, that she could get lost so easily and the universe will never conform to what they want it to do/be. So he's left just wondering when the universe will ever allow him to be with her. He accepts that they are barely anything here but he still wants to be with her. So, it's a great sweet odd song...it's actually my fav song of all time :D

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
