Take your head around the world
See what you get
From your mind
Write your soul down word for word
See who's your friend
Who is kind
It's almost like a disease
I know soon you will be

Over the lies, you'll be strong
You'll be rich in love and you will carry on
But no - oh no
No you won't be mine

Take your straight line for a curve
Make it stretch, the same old line
Try to find if it was worth what you spent
Why you're guilty for the way
You're feeling now
It's almost like being free
And I know soon you will be

Over the lies, you'll be strong
You'll be rich in love and you will carry on
But no - oh no
No you won't be mine

Take yourself out to the curb
Sit and wait
A fool for life
It's almost like a disease
I know soon you will be

Over the lies, you'll be strong
You'll be rich in love and you will carry on
But no - oh no
No you won't be mine

Talk about a song with incredible pride and integrity. I see it as moving on from a relationship you felt lucky to be in at first, then realizing at it's end that he/she was the lucky one. Everyone loves her, she'll find someone new in a heartbeat. But you know she'll never find anyone as good for her as you were, be as good to her as you were (Said with a bit more feeling than Uncle Kracker, I might add). The build in the music is astonishing, and the way it cuts back to single note piano, gut-wrenching. Listen for the grace notes. They set the tone so well.

Favorite line: "take yourself out to the curb," you piece of trash.

I adore this song...it has so much feeling, I can relate to this song...The words completly get to me...It is like he is talking to his old Love and he is finally over her and he wants her to see what she did and what she is like...and saying "you won't be mine"...I especially love the words..."Try to find if it was worth what you spent..Why you're guilty for the way You're feeling now" Anyone who has had someone leave them has thought this at least once. Great song...i love the feeling it leaves you with.

I've taken a slightly different view on this song... for me it's more like a whole "love from afar" deal. He loves her utterly, but in her high-flying lifestyle she doesn't even know he exists. It's he, however, that is the one who truly knows how to be happy in life, but he can't because he can never have her. So very bittersweet, and made all that more by the incredible orchestra and piano work. One of my all-time favourite songs.

Favourite line - "Write your soul down word for word/See who's your friend/Who is kind"

wow. the lyrics blow me away. I feel like that right now over a guy.. i look at him, and i see the kind of life i could give him, but he refuses to see it.. he only sees what he's got now, these feelings that lie to him and tell him hes happy... but hes so blind that he doesn't see that he's not happy... hes fooling himself. And now..."over the lies, he'll be strong, he'll be rich in love and he'll carry on".... and because he can't see... he won't be mine. thats how i see the story of this song. his disease is that he can't see what will make him happy... his blindness.

i just feel like sharing my favorite line here :"you'll be over the lies...but you won't be mine" which is how i feel about an ex. i love this song, its wonderful, and the musical thing at the end is kinda freaky when you fall asleep and then it wakes you up outta nowhere.

I think this song is about breaking up with someone and feeling ready for them to move on. Or it could be about loving some one from afar. But I couldn't pick a favorite line because the song is all brilliant.

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/
