In regards to the meaning of this song:
Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.”
That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.
I will meet you in some place
Where the light lends itself to soft repose
I will let you undress me but I warn you I have thorns like any rose
And you could hurt me with your bare hands
You could hurt me using the sharp end of what you say
But I'm lost to you now, there's no amount of reason to save me
So break me, take me
Just let me feel your arms again
Break me, take me
Just let me feel your love again
Feels like being underwater
Now that I've let go
And lost control
Water kisses fill my mouth
Water fills my soul
So break me, take me
Just let me feel your arms again
Make me oh won't you, make me
Just let me feel your love again
Kiss me once well, maybe twice
Oh, it never felt so nice
Break me, take me
Just let me feel your arms again
Break me oh won't you go on and make me
Just let me feel your arms again
Just let me feel your love again
Where the light lends itself to soft repose
I will let you undress me but I warn you I have thorns like any rose
And you could hurt me with your bare hands
You could hurt me using the sharp end of what you say
But I'm lost to you now, there's no amount of reason to save me
So break me, take me
Just let me feel your arms again
Break me, take me
Just let me feel your love again
Feels like being underwater
Now that I've let go
And lost control
Water kisses fill my mouth
Water fills my soul
So break me, take me
Just let me feel your arms again
Make me oh won't you, make me
Just let me feel your love again
Kiss me once well, maybe twice
Oh, it never felt so nice
Break me, take me
Just let me feel your arms again
Break me oh won't you go on and make me
Just let me feel your arms again
Just let me feel your love again

@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday".
I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.

“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it.
“I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
i dont think its about physical abuse but about vulnerability and submission to someone else
it's about giving in to someone not in the ngeative way but it's like surrendering your soul allowing that person to possess you
This song is about throwing everything to the wind, even at the conciquences that might come forth, cause in love, that's what you do.
erm... i haf no idea what this song means, but i find it extremely sweet. to me, it's a song about trust and love.
it's so relaxing watching the mtv of BREAK ME...
To me it's the longing of one that you love. It's the needing and yearning to be with them again, whether it be because of distance between the two or maybe because of seperation in the relationship or by death. You just need the feeling of belonging to someone again, you just crave for the touch even though you know you are being too vulnerable.
k, i could be wrong, but reading the lyrics, and watching th video, i get a completly different edge of this song. I am thinking that it is about an abuised women that isnt going to get hurt anymore. Knowing what has been done, you "could break me" but i will still survive.
let me know ...
I was thinking something similiar to what you are thinking daedreamar. When you listen to the lyrics, it makes me believe that it is about someone that has been abused... but yet yearns for to be loved. So much that even if the person that abuses them is the one that provides them the affection they need that they are willing to get hurt or allow themselves to be punished for it again. Sadistic maybe.. but it's a sad song... at least if you look at it from my opinion.
I've heard this song since 2 and a half years back. Its a sweet song to me. Memories poured in everytime I hear of this song. I guess this song, if you were to look carefully at the lyrics, its actaully a sexual love song. I'll never forget you and this song.
Such a beautiful song... and what a brilliantly sweet voice!
