Let the phone ring, let's go back to sleep
Let the world spin outside our door
You're the only one that I want to see
Tell your boss you're sick, hurry, get back in I'm getting cold
Get over here and warm my hands up, boy, it's you they love to hold
And stop thinking about what your sister said
Stop worrying about it, yes the cat's already been fed
Come on darlin', let's go back to bed

Put the phone machine on hold
Leave the dishes in the sink
Do not answer the door
It's you that I adore
I'm gonna give you some more

We'll sit on the front porch, the sun can warm my feet
You can drink your coffee with sugar and cream
I'll drink my decaf herbal tea
Pretend we're perfect strangers and that we never met
My, you remind me of a man I used to sleep with
That's a face I'd never forget
And you can be Henry Miller and I'll be Anais Nin
Except this time it'll be even better
We'll stay together in the end
Come on darlin', let's go back to bed

Put the phone machine on hold
Leave the dishes in the sink
Do not answer the door
For you, I'd be a poor man's wife
I'm gonna give you some more

Let the phone ring, let's go back to sleep

This song to me along with many others of jewel explains that lifes too short-enjoy every moment of life while you can and dont take it for granted

There is no hope for a civilization which starts each day to the sound of an alarm clock. ~Author Unknown

I love Jewel the way she used to be. Real. I'm up at 6:45am on my first weekend off in 5 months. The boss called to see if I could come in. As I was lying there beside the wife, this song came to my head. I should have put the phone machine on hold and left the dishes in the sink. I won't answer the door. Screw the world outside... I'm taking two days off in a row! lol It's a beautiful song.

The way she used to be.

    My Interpretation

This song is about the simple, everyday things in a couple's life. A relationship/marriage doesn't always involve exciting dates, elegant restaurant dinners, vacations, etc. I think it's very important to just be comfortable with someone. Be able to stay home and do "nothing much" with them.

have you ever thought of the title implying "mourning song" instead of "morning song"?

It changes the meaning for me.

In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
