We've had some fun, and yes we've had our ups and downs
Been down that rocky road, but here we are, still around
We thought about someone else, but neither one took the bait
We thought about breaking up, now we know it's much too late

We are bound by all the rest
Like the same phone number
All the same friends
And the same address

(Ooh) Yes, it's true (yes, it's true)
I am happy to be stuck with you
(Ooh) Yes, it's true (yes, it's true)
I'm so happy to be stuck with you
(Ooh) 'Cause I can see (I can see)
That you're happy to be stuck with me

(Ooh, wa-ooh) We've had our doubts
We never took them seriously
And we've had our ins and outs (ooh, wa-ooh)
But that's the way it's supposed to be
We thought about giving up (giving up)
But we could never stay away
(Ooh, wa-ooh) We thought about breaking up
But now we know it's much too late

And it's no great mystery (ooh)
If we change our minds
Eventually, it's back to you and me

(Ooh) Yes, it's true (yes, it's true)
I am happy to be stuck with you
(Ooh) Yes, it's true (yes, it's true)
I'm so happy to be stuck with you
(Ooh) 'Cause I can see (I can see)
That you're happy to be stuck with me

We are bound by all the rest (ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh)
Like the same phone number
All the same friends
And the same address

(Ooh) Yes, it's true (yes, it's true)
I am happy to be stuck with you
(Ooh) Yes, it's true (yes, it's true)
I'm so happy to be stuck with you
(Ooh) 'Cause I can see (I can see)
That you're happy to be stuck with me

(Ooh, yes, it's true) I'm so happy to be stuck with you
(Ooh, wa-ooh) I'm happy to be stuck with you
(Ooh, wa-ooh) Happy to be stuck with you
(Ooh, yes, it's true)

This is a beautiful song. One of the first songs I ever heard as a child. Always brings back good memories. Also, the video is very close to heart for me!

Together through thick and thin. No matter what life throws this couple's way, they're permanently - as the song goes - stuck to each other. Suck it, you naysayers! Hah!

    My Interpretation
When I was a kid, I always enjoyed this song, mostly due to the upbeat music and the silly video. But I was thinking about the lyrics recently, and I think it means something else. To me, it sounds like it was written by someone who is in denial about how crappy their partner is. The title itself, while most probably consider it "cute" to say they are stuck with each other, it's actually pretty sad. Consider the person who is in an abusive relationship but can't bring themselves to leave for whatever reason (family, their kids, etc.) "We've had our doubts, but we never took them seriously" -- This is one of the most telling lines. If you have doubts about someone but you don't face them, you're asking for trouble down the road. "That's the way it's supposed to be", referring to having "ins and outs". Yes every relationship has some of these, but to what extent? This reminds me of a battered wife who keeps telling herself it's worth it to stay because of the good times, when her man isn't drunk off his ass and isn't using her as an excuse and/or punching bag. "We thought about breaking up, but now we know it's much too late" It's never too late to break up with someone if they are treating you poorly. If someone feels like it's "too late" they either have horrible low self esteem, thinking no one else will want them, or they are "staying together for the kids" which is usually a horrible idea. Even the line, "I can see that you're happy to be stuck with me" sounds like wishful thinking at best. To me, this song sounds like someone who is in denial and they know it, but can't quite face it. Throw in the "church organ" at the beginning and you have a whole other level, with the religion aspect, but I won't go there at this time.
