It's getting to the point where I am no fun anymore, I am sorry.
Sometimes it hurts so badly I must cry out loud, ‘I am lonely.'
I am yours, you are mine, you are what you are, you make it hard.

Remember what we've said, and done and felt about each other, oh babe, have mercy.
Don't let the past, remind us of what we are not now, I am not dreaming.
I am yours, you are mine, you are what you are, you make it hard.

Tearing yourself away from me now, you are free and I am crying.
This does not mean I don't love you, I do, that's forever, yes, and for always.
I am yours, you are mine, you are what you are, you make it hard.

Something inside is telling me that I've got your secret. Are you still listening?
Fear is the lock and laughter the key to your heart and I love you.
I am yours, you are mine, you are what you are
You make it hard, and you make it hard, and you make it hard, and you make it hard.

Friday evening, Sunday in the afternoon, what have you got to lose?
Tuesday morning, please be gone, I'm tired of you what have you got to lose?
Can I tell it like it is, listen to me baby-
it's my heart that's a suffering, it's a-dying and that's what I have to lose.

I've got an answer. I'm going to fly away, what have I got to lose?
Will you come see me Thursdays and Saturdays? What have you got to lose?

Chestnut brown canary, ruby throated sparrow,
sing a song, don't be long, thrill me to the marrow.
Voices of the angels, ring around the moonlight,
asking me, said, she so free, how can you catch the sparrow?
Lacy, lilting lyrics, losing love lamenting. Change my life, make it right, be my lady.

Que linda me la traiga Cuba
La reina de la Mar Caribe
Quiero solo visitarla alli
Y que triste que no puedo vaya
O va, o va

Definitely my favorite CSNY tune. Such excellence of melody, harmony, vocals, strings and percussion, dynamics and overall composition!

I have always thought the song is about a guy and a girl, in a relationship that has either been rocky all along, or especially rocky lately, but who have not given up on each other or on being together, and the guy especially is at his wits' end, burned-out emotionally. They seem to be playing a little cat-and-mouse with each other, because of their angst about the relationship, their baggage, and even their history confined within their times together. The song ending has always struck me as an awkward, perhaps chauvinistic, and brutally blunt marriage proposal: "Be my lady."

Now that I know the Spanish (thanks to others here!), that part seems like "honeymoon music" - the hitched couple indulging in every desired pleasure (with each other, too!) in a tropical paradise - could be a honeymoon in Cuba, if not for all the government restrictions for so many years, but at least Cuba and the pleasures of the honeymoon are idealized in the daydreams of the deliriously happy (now married, or imaginarily married) guy. That's how that part of the song sounds to me - like a happy daydream or fantasy about honeymooning - or a more general fantasy about having all of each other, thrilling each other to the marrow, and only each other, forever, with tropical paradise as the metaphorical backdrop.

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
