What cha wanna be, when you grow up
What cha gonna do, when your time is up
What cha gonna say, when things go wrong
What cha wanna do, when you're on your own

There's a road, long and winding
The lights are blindin', but it gets there
Don't give up, don't look back
There's a silver linin', it's out there somewhere
Everybody wants an answer, everybody needs a friend
We all need a shinin' star on which we can depend
N' so tonight we're gonna wish upon a star
We never wished upon before (to find what you're looking for)
There'll be times, in your life
Ya when you' be dancin' n' shit, but you ain't gettin it
But don't get disillusioned, no, don't expect too much
'Cause if what you have is all you can get just keep on
Tryin', it just ain't happened yet
Everybody wants to be winner, everybody has a dream
We all need a shinin' star when things ain't what they seem
So tonight we're gonna wish upon a star
We never wished upon before (gotta get where you're headed for)

Everybody wants some kindness, everybody needs a break
We all need a shinin' star when things get hard to take
So tonight we're gonna wish upon a star
We never wished upon before

    Memory

yes i also do believe this is a very beautiful song i was in the hospital room nearby my great grandpas side when he passed away and i was listening to this song but what rele gets me is that he gave me a little coin that says shoot for the moon and even if u miss you'll land among the stars so to me this song is about friendship or that special someone who will help u along the journey thru life and all the obstacles youll over come.and i dropd out of school to take care of him so to me this song says that the road ahead is gunna be hard and not to give up and its time for me to grow up and finish my life and he will be ther by my side like i was there always by his.and he is my hero and my shinning star!!!

A great song about growing up and learning how to find yourself. It is about that special friend that helps you along the way, the one who holds you up when you fall and holds a mirror when you can't see yourself anymore. They help us lift our heads just enough to find that star to wish upon.

this song is wonderful, i think, as you mentioned, it's about finding yourself and friends and stuff, and as a matter of fact, it means a lot to me as in many situations, i wouldn't have known what to do without friends... and this song kinda reminds me of it, i dunno.... anyway, the song is really beautiful and has a great meaning to me, these word really mean something, i wanna say- it's not just like_ oooh, baby, i love, and stuff... not that i wouldn't love these songs as well,:-D, but i think sometimes the meanigful songs are more helpful or special, it depends on my moods and stuff...... :-D

This song is beautiful. I like thinking it is about frienship and everything already mentioned, but I also listen to it and it makes me think of a funeral and celebrating the life of a lost loved one. Someone very special to everyone, now they'll wish on that person, that star. It's an odd why of looking at it I suppose - but I like all interpretations of the song.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
