I wanna be your lover, baby
I wanna be your man
I wanna be your lover, baby
I wanna be your man
Love you like no other, baby
Like no other can
Love you like no other, baby
Like no other can

I wanna be your man, I wanna be your man
I wanna be your man, I wanna be your man

Tell me that you love me, baby
Let me understand
Tell me that you love me, baby
I wanna be your man
I wanna be your lover, baby
I wanna be your man
I wanna be your lover, baby
I wanna be your man

I wanna be your man, I wanna be your man
I wanna be your man, I wanna be your man (whoa)

I wanna be your lover, baby
I wanna be your man
I wanna be your lover, baby
I wanna be your man
Love you like no other, baby
Like no other can
Love you like no other, baby
Like no other can

I wanna be your man, I wanna be your man
I wanna be your man, I wanna be your man
I wanna be your man, I wanna be your man
I wanna be your man, I wanna be your man

'We sort of played it roughly to them [Rolling Stones] and they said, 'Yeah, OK, that's our style.' But it was only really a lick, so Paul and I went off in the corner of the room and finished the song off while they were all still sitting there talking. We came back, and that's how Mick and Keith got inspired to write... because, 'Jesus, look at that. They just went in the corner and wrote it and came back!' You know, right in front of their eyes we did it. So we gave it to them. It was a throw-away. It shows how much importance we put on them. We weren't going to give them anything great, right? I believe it was the Stones' first record'

John Lennon said that about the song in 1980, I think.

One day, before the Rolling Stones went to their tryouts for some record company, they asked the Beatles "Do you have any good songs?" and they said "yeah," and gave them this song. It was the first song that got them on the charts, I believe.

I fell in love with this song when I heard it on the anthology movie. I like their version better than the Stones version, and pretty much all the songs sung by Ringo have a soft-spot in my heart. John is my fave, but Ringo rocks my socks!

Yeah, anything Ringo sings is up there on my list. :D But..I do like the Stones' version a lot. Very different, yet it's the same song.

I agree w/ doublexfantasy, with the exception of yellow submarine, too many posers listen too it, and it's not a very good song

pants, THANK YOU!!! That's the exact reason why 'Yellow Submarine' has been spoiled for me!! 'Course, I always ask them what part of the movie was their favorite. ^^ They never have a good answer.

This song is the answer to the people who seem to think Ringo was bad. Fucking destroying his drumset and singing at the same time, without you hearing any panting in the background, and he played it live a number of times. Basically, Ringo fucking rapes all of you.

@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.
