guess what i just figured out. i hate every single person. almost every single soul that lives and breathes and dies. we turn away. i hate everyone. we are above. the entire human race is so fucking stupid and it’s times like this i can’t go through it. punch your friend out over shotgun. maybe that has meaning. or nina who just ignores me for no goddamned reason. we turn away. i hate everyone. it’s time i say. i hate everyone in this whole world has no brain. and it’s times like this you drive me insane. all the beefcake spoiled obnoxious stubborn sensitive intolerable. superior. i’m above you. i’m better than you. when i don’t like what you said to me. wouldn’t that be so convenient. if i just let you get away with everything that i think is wrong.

I fucking love this song. The first time I heard it, I thought "that's a bit much for me.. too angry." But I've had a day (well it's been building up for a while) where i don't want to see or talk to anyone and i'm just sick of trying to impress and care about everyone. I was already in a weird mood, but listening to this song has brought a little more clarity to my extremely weird mood and i've realized a few things today. And even though it's somewhat of an angry mood, i feel so fucking good.

it brings you clarity just to see such a side of anger, even if you cant feel it for youself.. but it is x10 better when you are just down and want to seal your lips and just hear a song like this pour through your head.

I saw prevent falls play in my town. They kicked ass... really gave a great show. i bought their cd for 5$ and got home and listened to this song. honestly, i thought it was horrible beyond horrible. i don't know if it was the quality of the cd or what. I listened to the rest of the cd and was really disappointed cause i thought they had given a great show. but as i sat down and listened to it more and more... i found that they really do have some talent. i love the song fej retrac, the instrumental. really good stuff

This song doesn't have to be about ftw or anarchy or anything like that, just more of how you feel at one particular time. I'm sure that we've all felt angry and frustrated with everything in our lives at one point, but didn't want to destroy the whole world for more than a day. I've seen Prevent Falls more times than any other band this year (and that's a lot) and they still never fail to amaze me.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,
