I'm in a parking lot by myself
It's quarter to nine and I've been here since 5:45
Oh, there's no one but I can see some flickering lights
I can hear some dogs barking in the back yards
And I smell gasoline
I wish the sky were open 'cause if there weren't those trees
I think I could see for miles
The city is just beyond those clouds
I guess this is what it's like to be really down
And holding out for something
Remembering the warm nights
Remembering the open arms of two years ago
Oh there's nothing like this parking lot
And seeing the stars in morning
'Cause I can see them from where I'm lying
I can feel the cold pavement against my skin
It's tingling.

i believe this song is about a young man experiencing something we call... Life. maby for the first time he is experiencing the world... out of a depression, or a breakup... He is finally getting back to his life... feeling the freedom of our world... his sences come alive... and he sings this song.

i kinda choose to ignore random lines in this... from the first remembering to lying and without them the song is about trying to find yourself.. its a moment of thought... such a great song... "i can feel the pavement against my skin.." couldn't have put the midnight star gazing any better...

I think Chris is in this parking lot because he's thinking about some lie he told. Here he realizes what a fool he was for not being truthful and he uses his surroundings as a metaphor of what his real situation is. "Clouds" are his "Lies" and if they weren' t there he could see the city... I particularly like the rhythm of the singing when he says "four miles... the city..." (kinda like a pun) and it also anticipates the "clouds" when he pauses after "city".... goddam masterpiece.

This is my favorite Saves The Day song. By far, the best. everytime I hear it, I just want to cry for all the mistakes I have made in my life. It just makes me rethink everything I have done, and realize that I cannot dwell on them. Everyone has had that time in his or her life where he or she just had to take a moment to think of the mistakes made. This song is all about that.

Cajun Girl
Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.
