Rave On Lyrics
The little things you say and do
Make me want to be with you-a-hoo
Rave on, it's a crazy feelin' and
I know it's got me reelin'
When you say, I love you, rave on
The way you kiss and say goodni-hi-hight
Rave on, it's a crazy feelin' and-a
I know it's got me reelin'
When you say, I love you, rave on
I know, it's got me reelin'
I'm so glad, that you're revealin'
Your love for me
Rave on, rave on and tell me
Tell me, not to be lonely
Tell me, you love me only
Rave on to me
I know, it's got me reelin'
I'm so glad, that you're revealin'
Your love for me
Rave on, rave on and tell me
Tell me, not to be lonely
Tell me, you love me only
Rave on to me

I love this song. It was the first I heard of him, and I love it to no freakin' end.
Little quip: the band "The Raveonettes" got their name from this song, because the lead singer loves Buddy Holly so much. --they also do a pretty good cover of "Everyday"

there is just something about this song that puts me in such a great mood! i love this song! :-D

aww man...this song almost makes me cry I love it so much. It just oozes of the good feeling post-war spirit of the 50's...makes me feel nostalgia for an era my parents barely remember.

I disagree with herojuana. I think the song is about that new love feeling. I don't think it's necessarily about an insecurity of her affection coming from a dark place. I think it's that feeling you get where you cannot believe you've gotten so lucky that this person likes you that just hearing her say it makes you soar. I think the character in the song simply cannot believe his luck. "Rave On" is the saccharine-sweet lovers banter. 'Tell me you love me.' Equivalent to 'no, you hang up.'

Rave on was inspired by Carl Perkins song, "Dixie Fried", the song about Dan who got drunk and hollered 'Rave on, rave on Chillun'.
IN a way it is an answer song to Perkins.

The version I have has two other verses at the start, after the first two opening lines, it goes:
Rave on, it's a crazy feelin' I know it's got me reelin' When you say 'I love you' Rave on
The way you dance and hold me tight The way you kiss and say goodnight Rave on, it's a crazy feelin' I know it's got me reelin' When you say 'I love you' Rave on
And then it goes into the verse with 'so glad that you're revealin'.

I think that this song is an homage to Stevie Ray Vaughn

Everyone who has posted in this song's thread is an idiot.
Don't you realize you are supposed to comment on what the song means?
Rave on means that Buddy (or his song's character) wants to be made secure in the fact that his girlfriend is crazy about him.
He's insecure and wants to be reassured that she is in fact smitten with him.
Once again, you others in here are FOOLS!
"I love this song, blah blah blah", shut the fuck up.
