I won't be here when you come home
I'm sorry if you don't understand forgive me if you can
But I can see another road
And I ain't coming back

Don't look for me you bound this town
Cause I will be so far away you'll never find me anywhere
And I won't take no souvernirs no perfume picture promises
Because it's over
And I ain't coming back

You gave me everything
And now I'm breaking your heart
You know that I don't mean
To tear your world apart

I would never leave, if I thought you couldn't stand the pain
A letter in hall, is written on the wall
A letter with the words of love at all
Because it's over
And I ain't coming back

And as I close the door
I know I'm breaking your heart
I should have loved you more
Instead I've torn world apart

And as I walk into the lonely afternoon
I feel sad enough, I feel bad enough
And all the times when you are lonely where you are
Please don't hate me then, I just could not pretend

Tears, feel the tears, I can feel the tears, running through the years

General CommentThis song gives me the chills..
Such a wonderful, eerie, beautiful, sad song.

"Feel the tears... I can feel the tears.. running through the years.. "

"And as I walk into this lonely afternoon..
I feel sad enough, I feel bad enough.."

General Commentno, he doesn't love her. you can understand it from the text, globally. 'i can see another road'(another lover?), 'you gave me everything and now I'm breaking your heart' 'I should have loved you more', 'please don't hate me then I couldn't not pretend' (I couldn't pretend to love you while I'm in love with someone).... ' a letter with no love at all because iit's over'.... he's only sorry because she doesn't deserve to be abandoned, 'cos he know she's suffering so much he can even 'feel the tears'. a very struggling song. it make me almost cry.

General CommentGreat song. Very sad lyrics, but awesome chords, especially during the last 2-3 minutes. Mike Lindup's falsetto on the final refrain is spine-tingling.

MemoryJust discovered this great online forum and had to put this song in, one of my all time faves. As previously commented, this song gives me the chills also, especially the line about walking into the lonely afternoon, i have in my own mind what a lonely afternoon looks like. Have loved this song since buying running in the family in the mid/late 80's. It was the first CD i bought.

General CommentA man who married and since discovered himself as a gay man regrets hurting her but must go out and realize who he is: my interpretation. I'm glad I never put anyone in her position.

General CommentHe doesn' love her anymore, and he knows, that he is hurting her very much. therefore he feels very bad. and he apologizes for hurting her so much. seriosly, for me, this is the most heartbreaking song, the saddest song ever. it's absolutely beautiful and incredibly touching. but, I can not listen to it. it's simply too sad. I don't enjoy feeling sad. and I am male.
