Did you see the sky?
I think it means that we've been lost
Maybe one last time is all we need
I can't really help it
If my tongue's all tied in knots
Jumping off a bridge is just the farthest
That I've ever been

Anywhere you go, I'll follow you down
Any place but those I know by heart
Anywhere you go, I'll follow you down
I'll follow you down, but not that far

I know we're headed somewhere
I can see how far we've come
But still I can't remember anything
Let's not do the wrong thing
And I'll swear it might be fun
It's a long way down
When all the knots we've tied have come undone

Anywhere you go, I'll follow you down
Any place but those I know by heart
Anywhere you go, I'll follow you down
I'll follow you down, but not that far

How you gonna ever find your place
Running an artificial pace?
Are they gonna find us lying face down in the sand
So what the hell? Now we've already been forever damned

Anywhere you go, I'll follow you down
I'll follow you down, but not that far
Anywhere you go, I'll follow you down
Any place but those I know by heart

Anywhere you go, I'll follow you down
I'll follow you down, but not that far (follow you down)
I'll follow you down, but not that far (follow you down)

I think this is about Doug, their loss of a friend, and the loss of their creative force:

"Did you see the sky, I think it means that we've been lost"

Doug dies (think Angels --> sky) and they are all (the whole band) lost.

"Maybe one less time is all we need, I can't really help it if my tongue's all tied in knots"

And struggling to recreate what Doug had on NME. No lead songwriter, "Tongue all tied in knots".

"Jumping off a bridge, it's just the farthest that I've ever been"

Refering to suicide and the craziest the survivors have ever been.

"I know we're headed somewhere, I can see how far we've come"

The band came so far with Doug, but they don't know where they're going. But they recognize how far they've come.

"Let's not do the wrong thing and I'll swear it might be fun"

They have to keep doing the same "right" things to maintain their popularity and keep the lifestyle Doug helped them achieve.

"It's a long way down when all the knots we've tied have come undone"

You building something very fragile -- think of tying sheets together. But then the knots come undone when you're very high (very successful) and you see just how far you have to fall.

"How you gonna ever find your place Running in an artificial pace Are they gonna find us lying face down in the sand"

Now fans, etc. want more of NME. But that's a different place than Jesse & Robin and the remainders. But they have to stay in the "artificial place" being someone they aren't. And the result may be a huge collapse and being found face down in the sand.

"So what the hell now, we've already been forever damned Anywhere you go I'll follow you down..."

And already some critics and fans were saying the band was doomed with Doug's death, the "forever damned" by those with those allegations. So by ending with "Anywhere you go I'll follow you down" (but without the "but not that far", they're saying that Doug killed himself and the band was following his path to death.

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

When We Were Young
Blink-182
This is a sequel to 2001's "Reckless Abandon", and features the band looking back on their clumsy youth fondly.

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
