This is a sequel to 2001's "Reckless Abandon", and features the band looking back on their clumsy youth fondly.
Heaven is a truck
It got stuck on the breeze
Asked the driver nicely
I need a lift, I need release
The sand in the boats
On the rose covered floats
She is the queen of the Casa Pasadena (House of California), thrill
I know arcs can't fly
I know the sharks, they don't have wings
But lady, you need some cold advice
About a few things
Loosen my dress
Tie me up just like all the rest
She is the queen of the Casa Pasadena (House of California), thrill

I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example:
"'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/
Magical
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.
Blue
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.
Punchline
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.
There are two overlappying voices, one says California, one says Pasadena.
I always thought I heard "She is the queen of a passin' Pasadena thrill" somewhere in there. Of course there are two different vocals at the same time so I could be mixing the two. It sounds like a bittersweet ode to beauty queens, parades, and pageants. Namely the Rose parade, obviously.
honorary chairman, i won an award for starring on this planet.
"Loosen my dress Tie me up just like all the rest"
Beyond the possibility of this being an invitation to kinky sex, it kind of makes me think of how you can be "tied" to someone by being in a relationship with them.
further on about the word choice:

men often speak of loosening their ties to ease the tightness and choked feeling. i love how those words play together in this song. it suggests (like you say) that a relationship is like being tied to a person and very much like being suffocated by them.

another thing about the word play- the kinky sex is more than submission. to me it sounds like some gender bending's going on. i guess that's obvious SM does ask for his dress to be loosened...
Loosen my dress Tie me up just like all the rest
I love that lyric. I'd love to know what it means, if anything.
I was born and raised in Pasadena, attending the Rose Parade (or Tournament of Roses, as it's officially named), nearly every year of my life so far. Bona fides aside, all riders on floats are wearing seatbelts if seated or tied at the hips if standing. I'm guessing he is talking about the Rose Queen and her court here.
I read somewhere that the lyrics were " she is the queen of a cancelled pasadena thrill" whatever that meant
I believe this song refers to the rose bowl in pasadena california. involved in the rose bowl is parade (with rose covered floats) and a rose queen chosen. i'm told SM is a pretty big fan of sports
She is the queen of the castle California, thrill
I always thought that it was just Pasadena, not california.
THe cancelled thing would make sense going along with the rose bowl thing but so would castle.
Oh and in response to Kad, which I forgot to post:
I'm certain it is a sexual invitation, but one of submission. You know SM had to like S and M :)
The way I heard it was the song sprang from a conversation S M had with Jennifer Herrera from Royal Trux about feminine hygiene. Or her lack thereof.
