"Mint Car" as written by Robert James Smith, Simon Gallup, Roger O'donnell, Perry Bamonte and Jason Toop Cooper....
The sun is up
I'm so happy I could scream!
And there's nowhere else in the world I'd rather be
Than here with you
It's perfect
It's all I ever wanted
I almost can't believe that it's for real

I really don't think it gets any better than this
Vanilla smile
And a gorgeous strawberry kiss!
Birds sing we swing
Clouds drift by and everything is like a dream
It's everything I wished

Never guessed it got this good
Wondered if it ever would
Really didn't think it could
Do it again?
I know we should!!!

The sun is up
I'm so fizzy I could burst!
You wet through and me headfirst
Into this is perfect
It's all I ever wanted
Ow! It feels so big it almost hurts!

Never guessed it got this good
Wondered if it ever would
Really didn't think it could
Do it some more?
I know we should!!!
Say it will always be like this
The two of us together
It will always be like this
Forever and ever and ever

Never guessed it got this good
Wondered if it ever would
Really didn't think it could
Do it all the time?
I know that we should!!!

General CommentAccording to Robert Smith, the song is called "Mint Car" because whenever bassist Simon Gallup got a new car (a "mint" car) he'd be very happy, and thus within the band they came to associate the phrase "mint car" with being happy.

General CommentEver think this song/some of this song could be about sex?
    THE SUN IS UP (erection)
I'M SO FIZZY I COULD BURST! (ejaculation?)
YOU WET THROUGH AND ME HEADFIRST (oral sex-headfirst)
OW! IT FEELS SO BIG IT ALMOST HURTS! (referring to penis size?)

I KNOW WE SHOULD!!! (they enjoy it so much they want more)
i think its about love and sexual experiences

General CommentMaybe I'm jaded from too much Pixies, but this song always seems kind of ironic to me. Like they're kind of making fun of happy music rather than actually writing it. "So happy I could scream"? I mean, really, that's got to be ironic or I'm worried.

But I do love that cute little scream Smith throws in there. Heh.

General CommentTo be honest, I kind of see this song as being sad.

I mean, obviously he's feeling happy during the song. But this:

"Say it will always be like this
    the two of us together
It will always be like this,
    forever and ever and ever..."

It seems like he wants the feeling to go on forever, but it won't. Again, this is only what the song means to me, it probably didn't mean that when Robert Smith wrote it, but I think too many people on this website concentrate too much on trying to decipher what the song meant to the artist(s) who wrote/performed it, as opposed to just looking at what it means to you. Songs can have a lot of different meanings, imo.

General CommentThis song is the one of the most upbeat songs, not only for a goth band, but for any group. I wanted to this to be our wedding song but my wife didn't like the idea.
