She was tracing out lines in the air
To make it perfectly clear
He was swimming with some beautiful sharks
The man behind the bar (x2)
And I was there
And somebody was talking about luck
And I thought, I thought what if my luck ran out?
Hottest night in twenty years
He is playing out a ceremony
Playing out a ceremony
Watch him turn on the spot
To see his memory from a different angle
He eased the element of surprise
To curve and sweep lines
And he is singing an old song
He is swimming with some beautiful sharks
And I was there
And somebody was talking about romance
And I thought, I thought what if my luck ran out?

Ps- My favourite line throughout the whole song is "watch him turn on the spot, to see his memory from a different angle " Its just soo powerful...and reflecting... showing that here is a person who wants to review an event or circumstance in his life and to do so he has to turn around can even be seen as stopping time and being the only one in motion...anyway...let me know what u think!

General Commenti think that you're right, irdonnelly. i think this is about being close to people who you know are 'dangerous', but willing to risk the danger to be near the beauty

General CommentTo me, the song is about seeing things, and about the way in which you want to see them. Everyone has a different perception of something. Whilst some consider a shark to be vulgar or intimidating - they dare to percieve them differently. Also, "to see his memory from different angles" could easily be interpreted as a person reassessing their own memories, and seeing something in a different light.

General CommentDempsey said somewhere that he actually was in a bar in either london or ireland, and people were speaking of these situations, telling stories, and that this song is an obersavtion and impression. Im sure it says that somewhere on the real website. However, he could be completely lying, being modest and downtalking metaphors. F*%ing awesome song tho. Gotta hear this song live acoustic. Got to!

General CommentTo me I think this song seems to be about some one who doesnt have long to live or is about to die (eg: swimming
with sharks) but at the same time, they appreciate the beauty around them, and have accepted the inevitable.
Think this could be relevant because dempsey father died when he was a boy, and i can relate to it too because the same thing has happened to me. anyway great song, keep up the good work sfk, if you are reading this.
