sure that star can twinkle
and you're watching it do
boy so hard boy so hard
but I know a girl
twice as hard
and I'm sure
said I'm sure she's watching it too
no matter what she's got in her right dresser
tied
i know she's watching that star
gonna twinkle
gonna twinkle
gonna twinkle
and last time I knew
she worked at an Abbey in Iona
she said "I killed a man T
i've gotta stay hidden in this Abbey"
but I can see that star
when she twinkles
and she twinkles
and I sure can
that means
i sure can
that means
i sure can
so hard
so hard
and you're watching it do
boy so hard boy so hard
but I know a girl
twice as hard
and I'm sure
said I'm sure she's watching it too
no matter what she's got in her right dresser
tied
i know she's watching that star
gonna twinkle
gonna twinkle
she worked at an Abbey in Iona
she said "I killed a man T
i've gotta stay hidden in this Abbey"
but I can see that star
when she twinkles
and she twinkles
and I sure can
that means
i sure can
i sure can
so hard
so hard

"Yet the record isn't finished until Twinkle; it just wasn't finished until that song. That level of the flame, feeding the flame, because after all the stars, the fire, I had to go into that place of becoming that instead of trying to find it again."
the last remnants of feminity in a fast male dominated world is reduced to a distant twinkle of a fading star...
Exactly. There's always hope even in the worst of times, "no matter what she's got in her right dresser tied... i know she's watching that star"

That video is great ^ even though someone's composed different lines. Thanks for posting it Mordak.
Twinkle is hope. It's the end of Boys For Pele, an angry, break-up album, a very feminist album. She's looking at a girl, saying a girl can shine just as hard as anything else in the world. It does soung like a sad song, but I've always though of it as very positive. Boys For Pele is a journey, and this is the end, the resolution, the new beginning
I can always appreciate Tori Amos' music. She lets us into the dark so we can see the light. @ Mordak Thanks for posting the link. Sparked some musings of my own
