    i dunno, i really like their older stuff, and i heard they're trying to use this song in make it in the US. i hope not, cuz if they do, they're not gonna gain many fans over here. no wonder euro *pop boybandish groups* don't have a big fan base over here. they don't know how to break in!!!

    Ok, so they are a boy band, persay, but they play their own instruments, write their songs. They sure as well can't dance. So they don't really make that category. I don't think this song sounds that popish, anyways.

    'They write their own songs, play their own instruments' give me a break. have u people heard 'one' by Metallica or 'Holy Wars' by Megadeth? Thats how to write your own music and play your own instruments. All Gay1 do is play meaningless shite that stupid braindead tennyboppers buy in the vain hope that one day they'll meet A1 and have a relationship.     I'm also a M3ta11ica fan (or at least used to be). I'm far from being a 'teenybopper', and I don't intend ever meeting any of the singers to whose music I listen to. I do appreciate good music though -- music that's easygoing and a pleasure and delight to listen to. A1 just has it, as much as you might envy their talent which you obviously could never attend. So what's your deal coming here to trash them? If you don't like their music, why bother view their lyrics at all?

Just listening for the 784,654th time....and it's just perfect in every way. Just incredible. The only reason it was remade was to scoop up a boatload of money from a more modern and accepting audience. But it is a completely different song than the other one that sounds slapped together in a few takes without a thought for the meaning. This song captivates me still, after 50+ years. Takes me to the deep South and the poverty of some who lived thru truly hard times. And the powerful spirit of a poor young girl being abandoned to her future with only a red dress and her wits to keep her alive. She not only stayed alive, she turned her hard beginnings around, became self sufficient, successful and someone with respect for herself. She didn't let the naysayers and judgers stop her. She's the one sitting in the drivers seat at the end. So, not a song about a poor girl, but a song of hope and how you can rise up no matter how far down you started. There is a huge difference between a singer who simply belts out a song that is on a page in front of them, and someone who can convey an entire experience with their voice. Telling not just a story with words, but taking you inside it and making you feel like you are there, with their interpretation.
