@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday".
I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.
Is Jesus your pal?
Do you call out his name
When your conscience is shivering?
Do you need someone too
Just like those people who
Find peace in someone's promises?
(You sure don't need my promises...)
So come and sit on my box
Enjoy the view of this water
Where my lifeboat is sinking
If you open your eyes
Take a look at this mess
Could you fake your reflection, child?
If you reach out for more
You'll find nothing but sorrow
'Cause knowledge is hollow
And pride is hard to swallow
So come and sit on my box
Take a view of this water
Where my lifeboat is sinking
Do you call out his name
When your conscience is shivering?
Do you need someone too
Just like those people who
Find peace in someone's promises?
(You sure don't need my promises...)
So come and sit on my box
Enjoy the view of this water
Where my lifeboat is sinking
If you open your eyes
Take a look at this mess
Could you fake your reflection, child?
If you reach out for more
You'll find nothing but sorrow
'Cause knowledge is hollow
And pride is hard to swallow
So come and sit on my box
Take a view of this water
Where my lifeboat is sinking

WHAT THE HECK DOES THIS SONG MEAN?!!?
I understand certain lines...but I can't seem to connect the lines into any sort of cohesive meaning.
"Is Jesus your pal? Do you call out his name, when your concience is shivering?"
That obviously is somewhat mocking people who consider themselves to have a friend in Jesus but only turn to him when they are scared or want something.
"Lifeboat is sinking" Something sad.....is happening....
Agh!!! What does it all mean?!

I love this song! its such a desperate song....I just can't tie the last verse in
very good track. and the best explanation about this is song is that emiliana plays the role of the devil. and i think the thing that makes track is contrast, a very eeiry & moody feel with a subtle slow beat and then emiliana's voice on top. and emiliana has a very light and very girlish voice, and where she is given the role of playing the devil. it's just genius.
uncledub, what movie are you referring to?
not role as in a film, role as in the roleplay within the lyrical content.
