@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday".
I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.
I don't know nothing,
I don't know a thing
But if I just keep on listening,
Together we'll sing
I've been walking for about a thousand years
And my feet are tired of crying
All those painful tears
And my sight is going blind
And my soul is way down low
But I haven't seen a thing,
So that's all i can know
I said cause I don't know nothing,
I don't know a thing
But if I just keep on listening,
Together we'll sing
I've been drinking to drown away my tears
And I'm sick of all the violence
And I'm sick of all the fears
But I'm moving down the road,
True I'm moving kind of slow
But I haven't heard a thing,
So that's all I can know
Said cause I don't know nothing,
Y'all don't know a thing
But if we just keep on listening,
Together we'll sing
I don't think that it's going that good today
I can't take my eyes off of the rain
And everybody's running away
Well I don't think
That it's going that good today
Can't take my eyes off of the rain
And everybody's running away
I ran away to the top of the world today
I've been crying and losing lots of sleep
Cause the roads are getting longer
Winter snows come kinda deep
But I still will move along
And I still can feel the sun
And I see or hear a thing
And I'll break into a run
Said cause I don't know nothing,
Y'all don't know a thing
But if we just keep on listening,
Together we'll sing
I don't think that it's going that good today
I can't take my eyes off of the rain
And everybody's going insane
Well I don't think that
It's going that good today
I can't take my eyes off of the rain
Everybody's running away
I ran away to the top of the world today
I ran away to the top of the world today
Ran away top of the world today
I don't know a thing
But if I just keep on listening,

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.
I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

This is a sequel to 2001's "Reckless Abandon", and features the band looking back on their clumsy youth fondly.
Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
This is one of my favorite songs ever... I really think it's just about life and how it's always going on around us, no matter how bad it gets, it's still gonna keep moving on and I think that the guys are just saying that every once and awhile you just gotta stop running away from life and you gotta sit down and think about the direction your gonna take...
I listened to this song at a very weird point in my life, my ex-fiancee had a miscarriage of our child and after that our relationship just fell apart and we eventually broke up. I thought the world was over, I'd just stay up drinking at nights with my freinds thinking that life wasn't ever gonna get better, but here I am 2 months later and things are actually going suprisingly well, I'm still single but I've been dating this really cool girl and things are looking good going into the summer, we'll just have to see what happens. I dunno, this song got me through a lot of sleepless nights though, so I'm gonna give it a 5 out of 5. Plus I've partied with OAR at Ohio State many times (I actually met the lead singers girlfreind at one of their free concerts and we hung out for a bit) and they are all super cool guys and their music is from the heart, so there ya go.
anyone notice how in this song they say "ive been walking for about 1000 years" and they say the same line in crazy game of poker? i thought that was cool that the same line can be used in such different songs
just a comment on the thousand miles, most of their songs stem from a story that mark wrote in high school, in which a guy walks for a thousand miles or so, also i would agree with the other interp, especially the lines that say i dont know anything, so basically he has no direction, so he is just gonna sit around and be comfortable, but if he sees or hears anything then he is gonna jump on it, basically the old hamlet or is it macbeth,="the readiness is all"
This song has to be my favorite OAR song. I think its aout when you have a really bad day you want to just run away or go somewhere- not that hard to figure out
great song. mroniger is right, many of thier songs have to do with a story marc wrote. the man who walked a thousand miles is "the wanderer" and the "Someone in the road" is the wanderer.
i agree with the first comment 100% This whole song is about getting through the shit life throws at you. No matter how heavy it gets how slow you have to move you will eventually get through it. But also at the same time we all wish we could just run away from our own lives and just let it slide by but we all really dont have that option.
Yeah, the Wanderer, walkin' a thousand miles, thousand years/ fears. or Going to a big brass show about an hour ago seem to be reoccuring things in OAR songs, I never really knew about the High School story though, thanks for shouting it out though.
wut does this song mean?
i really like this song and i think that it's about how sometimes you just get so caught up in the mess around you... all you can do is watch it all unfold...
