No summer in the winter time
Will keep you warm like a funeral pyre
And nothing like an August night
Drenched in your loving

I got a dirty black summer, oh
Yeah, my dirty black summer
Yeah, give me black summer
Yeah, my dirty black summer

And nothing in the coolest light
Can stop the walking out across the line
No holding back the summer night
I got a feeling

It's just a dirty black summer
A black summertime

Dirty black summer
Yeah, my dirty black summer
Yeah, give me black summer
Yeah, my dirty black summer
Yeah, come on, baby

Dirty black summer
Yeah, my dirty black summer
Come on, give me black summertime
Yeah, my dirty black summer

No summer in the winter time
Will keep you warm like a funeral pyre
Nothing drips like an August night
I got a feeling

I'm on a dirty black summer
Oh, my summertime
Yeah, my summertime
Oh, my summertime
A dirty black summer

Yeah, my dirty black summer
Yeah, give me black summer
Yeah, my dirty black summer
Yeah, give me black summertime

Yeah, my dirty black summer
Yeah, give me black summer
Yeah, my dirty black summer, yeah

uhh ... lots of dark, Satanic lovin' for Mister Danzig, I guess? He's got the absolute sexiest voice in all of heavy metal.

(and I'm surprised "uh!" isn't part of the lyrics in the chorus)

dirty black... like the ashes from a funeral pyre? summer in the winter time.. that would be like "indian summer" or fall... I think. So fall... ashes from leaves, ashes from a body (funeal pyre) and sex... hehe :P

This song is about hell. Hell is dirty...black...and summer refers to the heat of hell. Danzig is talking about crossing into evil, and knowing full well that it will send him to hell.

OMG, I heard the same thing! I know this guy got a -1, but sometimes the truth hurts. My understanding was it was the trainer at his bodybuilding gym. After his work out, he ask the guy out for a protein drink; they discussed his roid rage and it just went from there.

Well...I am totally not a Danzig fan. But my brother is the BIGGEST FAN EVER! In fact, he got the opportunity to design the concert posters for the Kansas City show on halloween this year. So, everytime I hear a Danzig song, makes me miss my brother - lol. I'm not sure the name, but the one song "I got somethin to say, I killed your baby today" is one of his faves. We always go around singing it. LOL

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,
