West Bay Invitational Lyrics

All of the neighbors decided:
It's time to have all our strangers over and make friends.
Chris got a pony keg of loose charm.
I had an accident.
I hurt my arm.
People from bands and labels.
The good ones.
Plenty of stunning children.
East Bay.
You were from Oakland by way of the Midwest.
I bought a rose and a suit with the pants pegged.
You said, "I smelled you twice today."
Someone was passing out somewhere.
We kissed a shot of Kentucky straight.
I swore this life is worth the wait.
Hayes broke the scissors, apologized.
Our kitchen was crowded and steamy.
Isn't it always?
I just looked deeper into you.
You bit my neck blue.
We hung our clothes up on the floor
And put our faith in a closed door.
We're having this party. Please come.
It won't be the same without you.
Please come.

I think this is about a neighbourhood who decided to come together and this guy meets the girl next door and falls in love and then they have sex. "hung our clothes on the floor" letting their clothes fall on the floor "they trust in these closed doors" which means they are doing it behind closed doors and they hope no one will try to come in

honestly the last lines "please come" make it sound like all this is happening in his head, and he's hoping the party plays out like it does in his head, where he ends up with the girl in the closet

I think Lord Pembroke is on the right track.. Although I feel the song is about a couple who are madly in love who are throwing a party at there house. All their friends come and they have a good time, 'I swore this life is worth the wait.' he's saying he's waited a long time to find a relationship this good, now he's here it was worth the wait. The ending is a little complex though, it might mean they met at a previous party and are re-living what they first went through.

I think this song is literally about a party that either chris, blake, and adam went to or threw themselves. "chris got a pony keg of loose charm" is most likely referring to their bassist chris bauermeister. I feel the rest of the song is about a girl that blake had a one night stand with "we hung our clothes up on the floor and put our faith in a closed door."
