Won't you be my girl
Won't you be my girl
Won't you be my, be my
Be my girl

Won't you be my girl
Won't you be my girl
Won't you be my, be my
Be my girl

Won't you be my girl
Won't you be my girl
Won't you be my, be my
Be my girl

Won't you be my girl
Won't you be my girl
Won't you be my, be my
Be my girl

I was blue and lonely
I couldn't sleep a wink
And I could only get unconscious
If I'd had to much to drink

There was somehow, something wrong somewhere
And each day seemed grey and dead
The seeds of desperation
Were growing in me head

I needed inspiration
A brand new start in life
Somewhere to place affection
But I didn't want a wife

And then by lucky chance I saw
In a special magazine
An ad that was unusual
The like I'd never seen

"Experience something different
With our new imported toy
She's loving, warm, inflatable
And a guarantee of joy"

She came all wrapped in cardboard
All pink and shriveled down
A breath of air was all she needed
To make her lose that frown

I took her to the bedroom
And pumped her with some life
And later in a moment
That girl became my wife

And so I sit her in the corner
And sometimes stroke her hair
And when I'm feeling naughty
I blow her up with air

She's cuddly and she's bouncy
She's like a rubber ball
I bounce her in the kitchen
And I bounce her in the hall

And now my life is different
Since Sally came my way
I wake up in the morning
And have her on a tray

She's everything they say she was
And I wear a permanent grin
And I only have to worry
In case my girl wears thin

Won't you be my girl
Won't you be my girl
Won't you be my, be my
Be my girl

Won't you be my girl
Won't you be my girl
Won't you be my, be my
Be my girl

Won't you be my girl
Won't you be my girl
Won't you be my, be my
Be my girl

Won't you be my girl
Won't you be my girl
Won't you be my, be my
Be my girl

buttofmalmsey said it best....but they cover so much, really. I love this song, soooo funny, but catchy at the same time...will you be my girl will you be my girl. Stuart Copeland is awesome! Best drummer ever!

I think the final verse actually ends with "in case my girl wears thin".

I love the contrast between the sung and spoken portions of the song. This is a rare vocal by Andy Summers. "Mother" on Synchronicity also has Andy on vocals and is also about a very sexually disturbed man.

… and 'Be My Girl - Sally', about Andy Summers falling in love with an inflatable doll (too much Bryan Ferry listening, Andy?), is hilarious as long as it's music, but I don't think the narrative interruption is funny at all. Experimental, maybe, but... eh... In all other respects, though, Outlandos D'Amour is really cool to listen to, and for many bands of the epoch it would have been a crowning masterpiece - it is nothing short of a miracle that the Police's next two records each improved on each other. Take this one as the band's Please Please Me. [George Starostin]

This song was also one of the highlights of the Police's early concerts. Believe it or not! :-D Andy Summers did have a taste for distasteful lyrics :-P Also: Friends (a song about cannibalism)!

I just love Andy's poem! This is the sweetest declaration of love to an inflatable doll of all time! : D OK, it's the only declaration to a doll I know, but still, I don't think anyone could beat it. rofl I also like the way he reads the poem, as if it was a bedtime story for kids.

The guy reading the poem reminds me of Alex from A Clockwork Orange

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
