ok, I do think this song has to do with suicide. I think the writer's friend's courage was confused because he didn't know what he was really up against when he was being reckless with whatever killed him. Drugs, I'm thinking (his arrows struck him in. they said he'd never use). Maybe the second verse was his friend's old jokes about the matter of endangering himself. idk But the chorus sounds like the writer's bitter. I gave it a shot... Catchy song. Even sounds deep, so I hope it is.
