Center Aisle Lyrics
i heard this when i went on an SU camp a coule of years ago, everyone else cried but i didn't, it makes me cry now though, coz i was almost like that girl, and i think it tells people alot, its helped me (^_^)
i totally love this song. it is just so...perfect.
I heard this song for the first time tonight at my Friends house...he played it on his quitar for me and my bestfriend. it brought tears to my eyes while he was playing it because of the meaning. Its about the singers best friends daughter died and his best friend asked him to play at his daughters funeral because it was her favortie thing to go...listen to him play his guitar and sing. He played at her funeral and on the car ride home he wrote this song. whenever i hear it it makes me cry...and i cant help him. P.s. ~ I HOPE HE DUMPS HER SORRY ASS AND GOES OUT WITH YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This song is amazing. It makes me cry, but it is sooo good. Caedmon's Call is just amazing, and this song really makes you put things into perspective.
This song has always spoken to me. I think it relates to suicide. His friends sister committed suicide and now they are all at the funeral. About a year and half ago we got a call saying that my dad had committed suicide. Its funny but one of my friends played this song to me after the funeral and i could relate to it so well. "What crimes have you committed, demanding such a pennance that couldnt wait for 5 more minutes.." To me that means what did these people think that they have done in their lifes to deserve to die? To not want to life anymore or to not even feel worthy to do so. Why couldnt they have just told someone how they felt and why didnt they do that? It also talks about how we truely all do take life for granted until something like this happens. I could have never realized how important my father was to me or how much i wish i could just call and talk to him today. "And i hate the silence..." How we hate the voice that we can longer hear.
What the songs means to the write: "in november of '95, the sister of a friend of mine from high school committed suicide. having never been to a funeral, i was very apprehensive, especially since i had been asked to play a song during the service. seeing her in that room along with all of those people who loved and cared about her really made me think. i mainly wondered if whatever it was that had driven her to that point could have been worked out in that quiet room with that group of people. i suppose questions just lead to more questions. i wrote this song on the way back home in the car."
@orangemily: yes, right in liner notes, so no mystery ... very powerful, evocative song, Derek Webb is an amazing songwriter
