One week of struggling
On the real world is
So you can see
Feel your soul and Shape your mind to warfare
It's all for real

Live your life Not the way they taught you
Do what you feel
Survive the jungle
Give me blood, give me pain
These scars won't heal

What were you thinking? What a wonderful world
You're full of shit
Leave it behind
They don't care if you cry
All is left is pain

Can you take it?
Can you take it?
Can you take it?
Can you take it?

The only way
To get away
Kill your pride
Attitude

I won't take it
I won't take it
I won't take it
I won't take it

So in the end, I want to see some respect
(I said) you better show some respect
(I said) attitude and respect

i get a strong sense of him just being angry at everyone who has every told someone to be this or that, and he is saying "fuck you, im going to be who ever the fuck i want, i cant respect your fake identity that fits in with everyone else,if you want respect be yourself not someone else"

The sound in the opening is a berimbau, which is a Brazilian string/percussion instrument. Max Cavalera actually played it himself during live performances of the song.

A lot of the Roots tunes do not impressed as much as the older Sepultura albums, but I'm always open to ethnic influence and it's cool to hear some tribunal/aboriginal elements added. I definitely think it's all about Arise, Beneath The Remains and Schizophrenia though.

the video is dedicated to his deceased step son, d low. it says at the very end of it. as for the meaning, it certainly is a big FUCK YOU to everyone who put him down and probably to the dude who killed d low in the first place.

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

“Head > Heels” is a track that aims to capture what it feels like to experience romance that exceeds expectations. Ed Sheeran dedicates his album outro to a lover who has blessed him with a unique experience that he seeks to describe through the song’s nuanced lyrics.

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
