Worried sick my eyes are hurting
To rest my head I'd take a life
Outside the girls are dancing
'Cause when you're down it just don't seem right

Feeling second fiddle to a dead man
Up to my neck with your disregard
Like a beat dog that's walking on the broadway
No one wants to hear you when you're down

Sister luck is screaming out
Somebody else's name
Sister luck is screaming out
Somebody else's name

A flip of a coin
Might make a head turn
No surprise, who sleeps
Held my hand over a candle
Flame burnin' but I never weep

Sister luck is screaming out
Somebody else's name
Sister luck is screaming out
Somebody else's name

What a shame

Sister luck is screaming out
Somebody else's name
Sister luck is screaming out
Somebody else's name

This is no doubt one of my favorite crowes songs

This song is about making it though a tough time or depression. "Sister luck is screaming out some body else's name" is in reference to good things only happen for others not you.

"Worried sick my eyes are hurting" This means he stays up thinking about his problems and his eyes hurt from being tired."To rest my head I'd take a life" means he would do about anything to have his burdens lifted from him. The burdens in his life have consumed his thoughts and he can't sleep.

"Outside the girls are dancing" means the people around you seem to be happy in spite of your condition."Feeling second fiddle to a dead man Up to my neck with your disregard" . I think this would mean that you're sad and or depressed and others don't seem to acknowledge ,understand,or maybe don't care at all about what you're dealing with(whatever that my be).

"Like a beat dog that's walking on the Broadway. No one wants to hear you when you're down".This to me means that overall people will treat you badly or not listen to you when you're powerless and beat down.Often times people will turn their heads away from a beat dog walking down the Broadway because it's not their pain, problem,or maybe they really don't care." "A flip of a coin Might make a head turn No surprise, who sleeps".This means that people might not really care enough to lose sleep over your problems because your pain is far removed from their reality. "A flip of a coin might make their head turn" can also mean that most people see more value in your money or what you can do for them then they see in you as a person. (when I lived in my car and was homeless I really found out quickly who my friends were and the people that was only fair weather acquaintances).

"Held my hand over a candle Flame burnin' but I never weep" This means that no matter how bad things hurt weeping in self pity won't solve the problem. more or less the burnin is a part of life that all of us need to deal with and grow tolerant to accepting as being human.Taking the pain without pulling back from the flame is like dealing with problems with out giving up.

well written song that has the ability to relate to the listeners pains

This song illustrates to me the image of Robinson looking at an aspect of his life from a view other than first person. Endless days, the wear and tear of your own personal hangups mixed with the subjection to typical attitudes of the life of a member of a rock band seem to speak loud in this song. I can't help but picture a lone man sitting alone in a darkened window, peering outside at a sunny day where everyone else is having fun, laughing, and enjoying themselves, while the lone man sits with a void stare at them, contemplating why he isn't outside with them, however he can't seem to find the answer(s). So many stereotypes of a non-stop lifestyle are present in this song to me. "Held my hand over a candle Flame burnin' but I never weep" tells me of an absolute "crashing" of the human body after so much. Suppose he is saying the lifestyle he has chosen is great...for a while. Then, you need some downtime, you need to be that lone man in the window to attempt to find solitude in order to get your priorities in line. This song is writhing full of a depresive mood, right down to the lone chords that slash through the introduction, before the other instruments begin to play. However, I choose not to call this a simplistic "depression" song, or a "bad day" song, simply because of who wrote this. This was performed by one of the most noted "party bands" of all time, and I think that this song says a whole lot more than just describing a feeling. It instead shakes you, saying "listen to me, don't just hear me". Remember this is my own personal feeling toward the song.

Sister Luck seems to ALWAYS scream out someone else's name! In my world anyway.

God this is such a great song. It's gotten me through so many tough times. In the darkest of times its like someone reminding you that others have been there too.

Its not " to rest my head i'd take a life". its always sounded like and, even when i really listen closely to it, still sounds like " to rest my head i'll take a lie". It also makes a lot more sense, both in the words and in what he is trying to express , that he is worried sick and he'll think whatever he has to think even if its lie because outside is life in the world where the girls are dancing adn he has to be there with others, not down. and worried sick..

Cajun Girl
Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
