Surrounded Lyrics

i was there
when you shone as bright as
bethlehem from afar
i was there
when you were young and strong
and perverted
and everything that makes a young man
oh you were a star
i was there
and i swear to god
and on my mother's grave
on everything i have
or ever will embrace
i was there
and i saw it with my own two eyes

and now it's all around me
it's all around me
i'm surrounded
now it's all around me
it's all around me
you surround me like a circle

i was there
c'mon and tell me i wasn't worth
sticking it out for
well i was there
and i know i was worth it
cause if i wasn't worth it
that makes me worse off then you are
but don't lose sight of me now
don't lose sight of me now

i was there
when they dropped the bomb
ya' know i remember the bomb
and i still hear the bomb
and i still fight the bomb
you know i still fear the bomb
you know i still hate the bomb
sometimes i still get the call

so don't lose sight of me now
you know you're all around me
i'm surrounded
you surround me like a circle

I listened to this song on repeat this spring. I had two friends kill themselves within two months of each other. This song always seemed to be about a close friend of her's who killed themselves. One of the saddest lines I think is when she says,

"I was there c'mon and tell me i wasn't worth sticking it out for"

"dropped the bomb" is the perfect expression of the way it felt when I was called about each of my friends.

This song is amazing. She's amazing.

Musicbuff is right, it's about an ex-boyfriend who developed a mood disorder. I seen Chantal in concert tonight, and she explained it before she sang it.

I think I first heard this song on an episode of Dawson's Creek. There are so many different parts to this song and they're all really different and amazing.

This song is about a girl and a boy that have known each other ever since they can remember. It is definitely from the girl's point of view and when she says "you surround me like a circle" she is speaking of the confusion she feels about how close they are how she doesnt know where she begins and he ends. When she talks about how she was "worth it" and the so called "bomb"... I think the bomb is when she finds out that he doesnt feel the same way about her as she does for him even though she was always there for him. And through it all she still loves him and always will.

I heard on a website that this song is about a friend has killed himself and the girl is singing about it...Actually I heard that it happened in real life. Chantal's best friend died of suicide and I heard that she can't sing it much because she cries and it gets to her. and the "Bomb" is the suicide that she hears about.

and also his death surrounds her like a circle. And she was there for him but it didn't seem to help.

I always thought this song was about someone loving someone who is dying of Aids or cancer or something like that.In the begining she talks about them being young and strong. I felt like the illness was progression that took place in front of her./ The bomb was the diagnoses.

This song sounds like it's about a war... she's fighting and he's with her. I suppose they're best friends. They're in this war and he tells her to stay and wait for him or something and he'll fight for her (evidently she's wounded so she can't fight but she still wants to). She's sent home from injuries. 'Saw it with my own two eyes' means she must have saw it on TV. She got a call that he died over there.

The surrounding theme means that he's her angel.

shrug That's my take on it.

wonderful song, too.

Her delivery of this line gives me chills.
