do you want me to strip for you?

everybody played a game, how come you won't tell me the rules?
i'm tired of trying on new skin, i never listen; i'm a fool.
and everybody ran away, how come you won't tell me where?
i guess i treated them too wrong.
now the sun don't shine on me, now the rain won't even fall.

could of stripped her down, and made the world a mess for her,
never thought she could be this way,
should of stripped her down, and ripped the world from under her,
never thought she could be this way.
should've stripped her down

now that the love has gone away, too blind to see my way to live,
i waste away from all the pain, for you i'd kill myself again,
i hope you get to play your games, i hope you get to see your friends,
i hope the guilt mixes the pain, i hope you'll never love again.
take it off...

"About one of my band members that had problems with his girlfriend...and that got me pissed off because when people around me get hurt, I get depressed as well. I was really upset, and I just went crazy. Nothing that happend to me...but it happens to everyone, at least one time you have some bad shit going down with some crazy bitch...it happens to everybody; it happens to girls too with guys. It's just a song about being fucked over by some person."~Scooter Ward

You'd think that because he can write such beautiful lyrics, he'd be able to speak a little nit more intelligently ;)

Awww...c'mon...give him a break. A lot of people are nervous when being interviewed and such. I am very gratefull that when the cameras and microphones are off, COLD, as a band, can write some of the most emotional and affecting music I have ever heard. LONG LIVE COLD!

I dont think he talks unintelligently. Just cuz the explanation of a song isnt as good as you think doesnt mean its bad. All he said was what it about, plain and simple. And the way they get that across in the song is fucking extraordinary...

ok...here's what i think....i don't think he should even explain what it's about...i mean c'mon guys... he wrote the song... the song itself says what it's about.... He really don't care about interviews and such, that's why cold hasn't gotten famous... but lately i've seen them more on MTV and shit and especially with their new song "gone away" being on wwf tough enough... i know for sure cold is gonna get more attention... I'd rather hear and enjoy the music... who really cares about publicity and media..????

Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
