This is a a great one. It is about loving someone very much, but you have been holding yourself back from telling them. And then all of the sudden you freak out;this person might actually not feel the same; this person might be with someone else. And then in an act of desperation you want one more chance to say what you have to say, but deep down you know that the other is at another place completely. BUt hey, do we ever think logically, nope, we can't.

Phil is underrated! overrated more like it's get your lighters out and singalong with the middle of the road generation with this song, makes a good lullaby for every insomniac.
Fortunately, I realized the aforementioned girl wasn't right for me. Now I'm pursuing someone else and this song still fits.
to me, this song is about holding yourself back from someone you love. trying to tell them how you feel. you need them to help you love. but you feel them slipping away because of your mistakes, asking just for one more chance to show them how much they matter. its about in all relationships when you protect yourself from pain so much you end up pushing each other further away. worrying how the other will react from a call for example. its about the final show of love, in one more night. i love it
Song seems to be about a guy who pretty much blows it with someone he really loves. He never had a chance to tell her so. Now it seems too late. She has slipped away, leaving the guy nothing left to do but plead for one more chance to express how he feels.
I used to slow dance to this song in front of my dad's old stereo when I was about 3 years old. (I was an eccentric kid!) I'm now 20 years old and it's funny how much this song speaks to me because there is/was a woman in my life that I don't think I can ever stop loving and it took me 4 years to tell her. Now, just like the song says, I need another chance to prove to her that I'm a good guy even though she basically disowned me earlier this year for the stupid mistakes I had made that hurt her, like being overprotective and negative. I wish she would talk to me again.
