Sleep Lyrics

She's been here so many times
Before she can't remember
When she last felt anything at all
But this fear and anger
She stares intently at the door,
Listens for his footsteps
She knows exactly what's in store
And the knowing makes it worse
When he calls her daddy's little girl,
She doesn't keep him
And when he crushed her
She can't feel her screems are silent
Hides in the corner of her mind
Where she plays contentedly
She leaves this nightmare far behind
Escapes inside her dreams

Floating high above her bed
Staring at her father's head
Wishing one of them were dead
So this hell could finally end

I'm surprised no one's commented on this song.

I'm not quite sure what to say about it either. But go SW for being brave enough to sing about it.

Kavanne.

Probably my favorite song on Wither, Blister, Burn, and Peel. The haunting melody in the background, the whispers, the emotion Christopher has...I'd love to know where he got the inspiration for this one.

Inspiration came from his ex, if I recall correctly. All based in reality. Same girl the first two albums were written about.

Not really the most uplifting song out there, but it's still one of my all-time favounites.

I am male, but it [the song topic] had happened to me for a long time.

This song puts people that have been fortunite to not have been raped, right there, so they can glimpse the horror of rape.

This song got me through high school (freshman year was a two or three years after it happened to me), helped me speak up about it, and helped me through the ensueing legal poceedings. Chris Hall has lyrics that are almost in leauge with Maynard from Tool, except he is much more direct. IMHumbleO

Awesome song and it still get me teary....

Thanks, Chris!!

By the way the programming/drumming, in the beginning, just captures the jarring reality of it all.

Then the whispy chorus captures the un-reality of it all.

This is a really dark song. It helps that Stabbing Westward has a really dark theme to their music to begin with and it helps convey the meaning of this song.

Plenty of artists do music about subjects like this, but few can really give it the dark tone it deserves like SW can. And if you doubt that, then go listen to Bob Dylan's "Lay Lady Lay".

this song is fantastic. its context is emotionally impactful, but the music is genius.

one thing to add, oddly enough. towards the end of the song theres a synth sound that resembles that of Barbara from Legend of Zelda II. It's the dragon boss of the 6th castle i think. the sound it makes is supposed to be its roar (8-bit tech at its best).
