1st verse

Lock my door
Close my blinds
I want to be myself

What's that thing
You put in your nose?
Can I have some?

I see you do this everyday
I hope you don't
Blow yourself away
Are you feeling real good?

Prechorus

Wired (wired)
Wired (wired)

2nd verse

Oh the room is getting dark
Oh I hope my heart don't stop
Do you really give a damn?
Do you even understand?

(understand me)

3rd verse

Hour glass is taining thin
Where have you been?

Do you know it makes you
Feel real good

Chorus

Wired (wired) (Repeat three times)

Lock my door
Close my blinds
I want to be by myself
(by myself)
Are you wired my child?
You live your life too would
Seeing things you never knew.
One day it'll get you

Are you?

What's that thing
You put in your nose?
Are you gonna do it
By yourself ?

I feel like I'm closing in
I hope my life
Will never end
You know I feel like
(wired)

Wired (repeat seven times)

I'm guessing this song is about drugs but more about the part of life when after you have become so addicted there is nothing you would rather do than just be on your own and sniff cocaine, also tells of someone being worried about it but there being nothing he could do about it. love this song, specially the part where he goes "Are you wired, My child" sigh love it, ok time to shut up

Definitely about drug addiction. I know everyone says that about every song but I'm 99.9999% sure this one is. Love this song, possibly my fave on the album along with Black =P

    Song Meaning

This song is about doing drugs. Asked by Ink 19 if anyone has a drug problem, the bands drummer Morgan Rose said, "I do not think any of us had any real problems. We just dabbled a little bit. So that is what the song is written about that." Rose said this was going to be called "Venetian Blinds" as a joke because according to him, "anybody that does a little too much coke, or speed, knows that you spend the majority of the night sitting in the room looking out the blinds." Source: songfacts.com So I myself feel it\'s written about that (what Morgan said) & the warning signs and damage of such a habit on any level.

Btw... a lot of the lyrics here are wrong. Shame the booklet didn't come with lyrics...

chorus seems to be wired instead of wire.. even tho it doesn't sound like it.. it's probably hourglass is drainin then... and I think it's "you live your life too wild".

    but I could be wrong.

good song.. seemingly well written. seemingly about drug abuse

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
