Tell All The People Lyrics
Follow me
Follow me down
Tell all the people that you see
Set them free
Follow me down
You tell them they don't have to run
We're gonna pick up everyone
Come out and take me by my hand
Gonna bury all our troubles in the sand, oh yeah
Can't you see the wonder at your feet
Your life's complete
Follow me down
Can't you see me growing, get your guns
The time has come
To follow me down
Follow me across the sea
Where milky babies seem to be
Molded, flowing revelry
With the one that set them free
Tell all the people that you see
It's just me
Follow me down
Tell all the people that you see
Follow me
Follow me down
Tell all the people that you see
We'll be free
Follow me down
Tell all the people that you
see It's just me
Follow me down
Tell all the people that you see
Follow me down
Follow me down
Follow me down
You got to follow me down
Follow me down
Tell all the people that you see
We'll be free
Follow me down
Tell all the people you see
Follow me
You got to follow me down

i like this song

is it just me or is the soft parade the most underated album of all time?
not the MOST, but one of the most underrateds albums of all time.

@seargent pepper Yeah, it's just you. That album is wretched. But I kinda like this song, which makes no sense because it's really stupid. Maybe I like it because Jim sings it in a jokey way, especially the "it's just meeeeee" line. He got liquored up real good beforehand, you can bet.

Actually this song is darker than the music suggest. Morrison is telling people to follow him, like a dictator, promising all kinds of things, but ultimtaley it will all lead down. It's part of Jim's clever way of making fun of politicians, he tells people to spread the word, follow me. The clever part is that Jim says follow me "down" because he knows, if people followed a leader saying the things that is where they would end up.
@scrumps2003 Actually, this song was written by Robby Krieger.

The Soft Parade was not well received because it was such a departure from the "classic Doors sound."

I agree with RogueLaw. That said, it is without a doubt a far superior album that is being put out by the majority of the so called "bands" "produce" nowadays!

Very nice song.

"follow me across the sea where milky babies seem to be, molded flowing revelry with the one that set them free."
I have trouble getting that line. Milky meaning maybe unclear or clouded. Molded flowing revelry, maybe long overdue feelings of happyness. i'm not sure
@Mackmocky5 It's a stupid lyric. It's mock-poetry. Robbie wrote it.

Hell. lol

I love how Jim changes a nice tune by the band with his lyrics. Its such a happy song but the lyrics Can't you see me growing, get your guns always threw me off. I thinks its about a suicide cult Jim being the leader, I love the repetition of follow me down, bury all your cares in the sand of the earth and follow me to a better place.
you know,im not sure, but for some reason this song always makes me think of Jesus coming down for his speech on the sermon on the mount, telling all of the people to follow him and their lives will be complete. I really dont think thats what Jim may have been getting at, but its just an idea and that what the song reminds me of.

@MurderCluesInDeadMansEyes Robbie Krieger wrote the lyrics, not Jim. That's why they stink.

This song was written by Robby Krieger, both lyrics and music. In fact, according to John Densmore's book "Riders on the storm", Morrison didn't want to sing it initially, because he diddn't want the people to think that he wanted them to "follow him with guns". Thus, the band stopped giving credits to each song to "The Doors" and gave them to the member who had come up originally with the melody or the lyric. Anyhow,a great song, Robby really had a talent in creating beatiful melodies.
