The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.
One two, one two, one two titty
I know every nook and cranny in New York City
We're Ciccone and that's enough
I'm the royal tuff titty and you gotta taste my love
Taste my love
Yeah
Come on everybody and rock with me
I am the one on the Christmas tree
Now working at the word like a moving storm
Now walking up the stairs and cookin' up the bored
Trippin' everywhere I don't fucking care
Put on some dark eyes and waving goodbye
Yo
Ya
Oooh
Cicc
Ciccone
Ci ci Ciccone
Ci ci ci Ciccone
Ci ci ci ci ci
Oh I'm just so down

Like a house of the ghetto
Saying all is one and one is two to many
Argh
London fuck you're pissing me of
Hollywood Amerika-ka-ka
Won't you please let me rock you
I'm just a boy with not much to do
Everybody says there's a cup from above
You gotta scream, taste my love

Standing On The Edge Of Summer

In regards to the meaning of this song:
Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.”
That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday".
I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

This is a sequel to 2001's "Reckless Abandon", and features the band looking back on their clumsy youth fondly.
Magical

Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.
Prior to be added as a bonus track to Sister, this song was from this EP: allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll
Which was a fore-runner to this album: allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll
Which came out between Sister and Daydream Nation. I'm sure there's a site that explains this better, but allmusic does an alright job. Read the Whitey Album review and the Ciccone Youth bio and think you'll kind of get it.
He sounds SO GONE!!!!! He is so high.
Ciccone is Madonna's last name.
I love this song cus it's so varied and funny. yeh he's probably high.
Does anyone else think it's J Mascis from DInosaur Jr. playing the guitar solo? Cus J. Mascis played on Two cool Chicks listening to Mue(?) on the Whitey Album, and if the other version of Master Dik is on the Whitey Alnum then IT ALL ADDS UP!
I love how random this song is
"London fuck you're pissing me of hollywood amerika-ka-ka" so true ha ha
I think it's a jab of sorts at the people hosting the radio program they recorded it on, who wanted them to play even though they were six hours late getting there and had an audience of five...
The music in the background is apparently made from clips of KISS playing (as well as the repetition of "I know!"), the song is I think a jab at such 'stadium-rock' acts. I personally think it would've fitted better on The Whitey Album than on Sister. 'Ciccone' was Madonna's maiden name, also The Whitey album was credited to Ciccone Youth, and each member used a pseudonym as well: The Royal Tuff Titty (Thurston's rapping alter-ego), ss beat control (Steve), The Sigh (Lee) and Fly Fly Away (Kim). So it makes quite a few references to Ciccone Youth also.
It isn't really a song on "Sister"; it's merely a bonus track added to CD versions of Sister. It's on the Ciccone Youth album 'Master-Dik' in a slightly different version.
i beg the differ, this was a great choice for an album-closer as Sonic Youth was most def melted on acid at the time, how would YOU have ended an album of such proportions as this one? and yes i do have a point, the title references the mastering company "Master-disk" that the band had to use. my thoughts are that it was a last punk stab at those people (nothing they could do hahaha) ~Nick
This song is so cool. Sonic Youth are one of the greatest!!! I LOVE Thurston :)!
"One two, one two, one two titty" hahaha love this line!
Ciccone is Sonic youths alias that was used in a secret concert i believe.
