Always cost a pair of hose
Spaces pressed together, Rose
Arms around each other's back
You know that I liked you Jack
And all the other boys who pose
A silent dance in the woods
In the suburb light is shown
Another can of Coca -Cola
Don't you ever call me Mom
Freckled dancing in the plan
And air so thin it weighs a ton
As far as you can see is fun
You're nothing but a history
A second here and then you're gone
Quicksand, quicksand all around
Turn the corner just beyond
The shadows move and change the groove
And something tells me not to brood
Turning room and that's a show
You're walking through my heart once more
Don't forget to close the door
I'm not certain of what you found
All the men want a charming whore
Like a crown with all jewels
Sunny skies and angels bleed
Falling down upon my knees
That wasn't how it's supposed to be
Clear blue eyes, justice tries
The wind is busy blowing dizzy
Your dreams were shot like a star
Exploding in a mind somewhere
Doing something on a dare
Pulling a trigger like breathing air
A sunkissed boy that gave no thought
To what he'd made while others saved

Ocean spreads a careless sand
It's dripping in my hand, you're dead
Little brother reminding me
The moments tick forever true
You can see as far as sin
Don't you know the shape I'm in?
You're walking through my heart once more
Don't forget to close the door

Oh no, this song is just about Joe Cole (like 100%..) This guy has been murdered, he was a good friend of the band, he made a lot of road with them during the 90-92 tour, so JC doesn't mean jesus christ but Joe Cole

i cant tell if "the variable" actually likes this song or is just being sarcastic, but this is kim at her best, the lyrics are memorising and hypnotic and unlike shoot or swimsuite issue this song is less literal, dont get me wrong, those songs are awesome too.

    My Interpretation

My favorite song by SY. Basically, I interpret it as as a guy "Jack" being incomparable against other guys that have been in her life that have been pursuing her, and no matter what happened, he always found a way back into her heart. Somehow, he is no longer on earth, but still is in her heart, despite all the bad changes that she tried so hard to stay calm about.

What a tribute, indeed. It sounds like that from second one, and it's oddly touching.

One of those songs that refuses to be described with lots of words, as it's damn simple.

Pretty interesting that the line 'Don't you know the shape I'm in?' comes back years later in 'Dude ranch nurse' as 'nobody knows the shape I'm in'. Any thoughts on that?

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

American Town
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran shares a short story of reconnecting with an old flame on “American Town.” The track is about a holiday Ed Sheeran spends with his countrywoman who resides in America. The two are back together after a long period apart, and get around to enjoying a bunch of fun activities while rekindling the flames of their romance.

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
