Encore un jour se lève sur la planète France
Et je sors doucement de mes rêves je rentre dans la danse
Comme toujours il est huit heures du soir j'ai dormi tout le jour
Je me suis encore couché trop tard je me suis rendu sourd
Encore

Here is a translation to give the meaning of this song to our friends who don't understand French. ^_^ This song has a very strong meaning: it criticizes the attitude of a desperate generation who tries to escape in the shallowness of clubbing.

Another day breaks up on planet France And I am slowly emerging from my dreams and I join the dance As usual it's 8pm I have been sleeping all day Again I went to sleep too late, I dumbed myself Again

Another evening where the French youth Again she will have fun since down here nothing has a meaning Well we are going to dance, pretend to be happy Then gently go to bed but tomorrow nothing will be better

Because we are young bastards Because they are old fools Because some men die under bridges But no one damn cares Because we are only pawns Happy to kneel down Because one day we will have better to go mad

Another day breaks up on planet France But I have long lost my dreams, I know the dance too well As usual it is 8pm I have been sleeping all day But I know we are a few billions to seek love Again

Another evening where the French youth Again she will have fun in this emergency state Then she will dance, pretend to exist Who knows whether we close our eyes, we will live better

Because we are young bastards Because they are old fools Because some men die under bridges But no one damn cares Because we are only pawns Happy to kneel down Because I know one day we will love one another Like fools

Another day breaks up on planet France Where I have long lost my dreams, I know the dance too well As usual, it is 8pm I have been sleeping all day But I know we are a few billions to seek love

This song is so good! I can't stop listening to it! The meaning is very strong too. I love the guitar and Saez voice in it!!! Damien saez is a very good songwriter anyway...

yeah this song is amazing. "young and stupid" great title name. the great thing about this song is that it transmits the mood through the sound, so even if one can't speak French they can get the feeling.

Love this song. Hits home hard, the music video was amazing too. Just a question, do you think that the 'quelques milliards qui cherchent l'amour' are looking for true love? Or is it the type of love that one finds in a nightclub and dissipates by the next day? Thanks.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

Punchline
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.
