The years unfold in one moment
The voices that we heard so loud
Are now suddenly silenced
Inside this crowd

And you're surrounded by the lives
Of those who found something to hold
So bringing everybody down
Is all you know

You've been hiding so long
You can't find yourself
In this sheltered life you live
When everything you want is at your fingertips
You'll never know what need is

You're claiming to be something different
So wanting to believe
That you're better than the rest
To make up for your self-esteem
You talk to hear your own voice and
You've left me no choice but to choose
I miss the person that you were
But I don't miss you

You're the new revolution
The angst-filled adolescent
You fit the stereotype well

I think that song is about all the kids out there, that claim to be different by being the same as everyone else. Wearing a revolution shirt doesn't mean that you are a revolutionary if all you do is wear a t-shirt. So many people claim to be part of something different but really being different has become mainstream. You see so many people these days talking and talking and talking, and all they accomplish is to talk. Congradulations you angst filled adolesent. You hate the world and guess what no one cares. Raise your voice just a little louder so more than your mirror can hear you. Like i said this song i believe is more of a jab at every kid out there that claims to be a "rebel", when all they do is bitch. I know several people myself cried against the autrocities that they felt were unfair, but they didn't do anything about it. I think this song is just trying to tell all of those kids that there is more to be revolutionary than wearing a t-shirt and putting everyone else down.

Pick up your can of spray paint, get a sign and a stick, and do something quit talking about it just do something if you think that life is unfair.

I really like this song.... Rise Against shows here what punk is now about. About emotions, it's a great critic that all those jerks who go out and claim to have a social conscience, to join a so-called revolution, etc when they don't even know themselves. Like rbfboy212 said, it's about losing someone that stupid stream of angry people.

It`s hard not to really feel the end part. And throughout the song it has some of the best self-explanatory lyrics in punk music. I never tire of this song - everything about it rules.

I miss the person that you were but I don`t miss you

That line strikes such a chord w/ me.

Nuff respect. The Unraveling is an album packed w/ special moments.

I;m agreeing wiht TheAlmightyMags here where its very hard not to feel the end, everyone knows that they have tried to fit in by acting different but everyone knows that they dont need to.

    The part saying:

when everything you want is at your fingertips you'll never know what need is

That part got me good cuz i know alot of ppl that have everything handed to them and they have no idea what they need and what they just want.

to me this song is about the high school years, and the people that put everyone down in school, stuff like that. the rich kids who don't have any idea what need is.

    the angst filled adolescent:

The song would suggest it's about a depressed/angst filled teeanger, who has finally dsicovered that there are other people like him, and now he just associates himself with them, he thinks that no one else cares and he is above them now, he claims to be one of those people, when in reality he doesn't even know himself. He fits the stereotype of an angst filled teenager well. This song is very personal, I can relate to it, not because I know someone like this, but that someone is me. Angst filled teenager, angry at the world. I am that stereotypical teenager that he's singing about. I found other people like me, I don't hang with my old friends anymore because they never really cared... and now I am them... but do I really know myself? So to me, that's what the song is about. And that's what I believe it's about.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
