Just Wait Lyrics
And all your uphill struggles leave you headed downhill
If you realize your wildest dreams can hurt you
And your appetite for pain has drinken its fill
Did you think for one minute that you are alone
And is your suffering a privilege you share only
Or did you think that everybody else feels completely at home
Just wait
Just wait
And it will come
And if you think I don't love you well then you're just wrong
In time you just might take to feeling better
Time is the beauty of the road being long
But maybe if I told you and informed you out loud
I say this without fear of hesitation
I can honestly tell you that you make me proud
Just wait
Just wait
And it will come
Just wait
Just wait
Just wait
And it will come
If anything I might have just said helped you just carry on
Your rise uphill may no longer seem a struggle
And your appetite for pain may all but be gone
Until that smile has once again returned to your face
There's no such thing as a failure who keeps trying
Coasting to the bottom is the only disgrace
Just wait
Just wait
And it will come
Just wait
Just wait
Just wait
And it will come
Just wait
Just wait
Just wait
And it will come

Hope for the future.
"If you think I've given up on you you're crazy And if you think I don't love you well then you're just wrong In time you just might take to feeling better Time is the beauty of the road being long
I know that now you feel no consolation But maybe if I told you and informed you out loud I say this without fear of hesitation I can honestly tell you that you make me proud"
I get chills. It's everything I want to say to her, everything I want her to know.

I love this song. This is what I listen to when I am feeling down, and it has a way of cheering me up. I guess I sorta pretend John is singing to me, telling me to keep my chin up, and it just makes things better.

i had never heard this song until i got grounded for a month for throwing a party and my parents found out--anyway--i was scared to death my boyfriend was going to break up with me because of the restriction-i could onyl see him once a week and talk to him 10 minuts a day-well anyway-he told me to listen to this song one day...and i had no idea what it was about, i just figured it was a random song that he thought was cool...after listening to this song, i knew i REALLY loved my boyfriend...that is-until we broke up :)

This song didn't do much for me... But i can play the guitar chords on my harmonica^^

this song makes me think of suicide. somebody is teetering on the edge, and the singer just wants them to wait, just wait. i love it, you can feel the emotion in his voice.

I just recommended reading this song, to a friend a few minutes ago. I hope she's reading it now...

good recommendation popper11. regardless of the spiritual beliefs of song writers, they often write about spiritual topics. John doesn't know who i am, so he wouldn't know to give up on me or not. but there is One who does know me. many times His words are of no consolation to me, but more often then not that is because He is saying what i need to hear and not what i want to hear. He has never given up on me, and He never will give up on me, or anyone else regardless of current beliefs. God saves all.

havenscott....yes the bible says to preach, but only to those who willing ;) i certainly didnt read these posts to find the message of a man who was nailed to 2x4's ... i'm sure no one else did either ;)

This is a great song. Just Wait

Maybe suicide, like intothesky mentioned- but I can't help but feel as though it is a song of rising up and above, not of stopping leaping off a building. I would go on a limb and actually say a theme I find interesting is the feeling that the lyrics as speaking to somebody young and inexperienced- a child? No, most likely a teenager:
"In time you just might take to feeling better Time is the beauty of the road being long" - Inexperience and a rush to go along with life, in the belief that far ahead is the only place where happiness is. Yup, sounds like a teenager.
Moreso, I find that the lyrics seem to be speaking to a family member- or, at least, maybe a young person who is lovingly regarded by a voice of experience (maybe a school counselor or a teacher):
"I ask of you a very simple question Did you think for one minute that you are alone And is your suffering a privilege you share only Or did you think that everybody else feels completely at home
Just wait Just wait Just wait And it will come
If you think I've given up on you you're crazy..."
I would actually venture to lean towards a family member who is speaking to this rash and let-down youth- I cite the following as a hint that this person is in a tight-knit circle with this person:
"...if you think I don't love you well then you're just wrong..."
Put all together, this is simply a tale of a family member trying to uplift a child trodden by his own simple life experiences and most likely the realization that things aren't as simple/easy as he once believed. Oh, I would also venture to say that this family member is the family member directly raising this child (like a mother or a father):
"...If you think I've given up on you you're crazy And if you think I don't love you well then you're just wrong... ...I say this without fear of hesitation I can honestly tell you that you make me proud."
And all of that is the simple result of what two terms of English Comp does to an English Major in college. ^ __ ^
