DC-10 Lyrics
Do you know
Do you know where you will go?
If a DC-10 ever fell on your head
Laying in the ground all messy and dead
Or a Mack truck run over you
Or you suddenly die in your Sunday pew
Do you know where you're gonna go
It can happen any way
It can happen while you're nappin' in your easy chair
Happen at home
Happen at school
Happen while you're scattin' like a scattin' fool
Do you know where you're gonna go
Do you know where you're gonna go
Do you know where you're gonna go
Do you know where you're gonna go
Straight to Heaven
Or down the hole?
Crashed through the roof of a 7-11
You're working on a slurpee
Things get hazy
Reach for a twinkie now you're pushing up daisies?
Do you know where you're gonna go?

I used to listen to this in junior high when I was only allowed to listen to “Christian Music.”
Anyway, I now realize this song implies a false dichotomy: Heaven or Hell, and Christians know they are going to Heaven. But the reality is there are many different afterlives proposed by various people and religions, and even Christians disagree about who goes where. I believe Stephen Fry said, “Anyone who tells me where I am going when I die is either a liar or a fool, because THEY DO NOT KNOW.”

Shows many ways in which you could suddenly die and never see it coming and asks the simple question, do you know where you're going to go?

it really makes ppl think (well at least me) ... u can die any time ... but do u no where you'll spend your eternity??? its a long time so u beta find the answers quik :) b4 ur time is UP.
good song ... i just wonder why AA is so unpopular compared to other christian bands???

jacob, I'll let you in on a little secret. Although it may not seem this way to you, AA sweetens everything. Every topic is so saturated with words that only Christians can understand that it becomes unpopular even for those Christians. Plus, AA hardly ever touches "real" topics. All this talk of death and living for Christ is great, but why not sing songs about things that'll help people? You want a prime example of this?? Check out "Slow and Steady Wins the Race" or "Rapture" by Pedro the Lion. Now those are lyrics that don't sweeten anything, just be brutally honest.

Do YOU know where you are going to go when you die, Grim713?

Don't be ridiculous. Of course I know where I'm going. But don't these lyrics sound pointed at secular people asking do they know where they'll go? Yet I can't think of one secular person who, after hearing this song, decides to be a christian. Rather than this song sounding caring, it comes off as self-righteous instead.

exactly, Grim713. i stopped listening to a lot of "contemporary christian" music because...well...it's lyrically lame. now see, there are quite a few bands out there sticking up for their beliefs AND playing great music AND not being pushy. a great example is the new Solid State band, Dead Poetic. they are great, and have such an awesome ministry. more power to them. and Pedro The Lion rocks too... :)

i don't think ba sweetgns it at all, lirics like "do ynu know ehere you're going to go" may spbrk a thougt in nne unbelievers lind and"if one person iR saved drom thad that's what God wanted and thad is pertect. And if you think the contelporary btuff hac lame lyrics check out d-bone it's west coast sdyle rap w/ lyribs that bre very0blunt about whad the trdth is. I also would recommend Pillar...

Okay, I'll agree with you. But only a little bit. AA has some good lyrics. But some are completely terrible. Woo hoo, do you know where YOU are gonna go? Wow, how extremely self-righteous. I dunno, I get tired of listening to bands that pretend that they are awesome. It bores me

i have to admit that this is one of my least favorite AA songs, however i do like the message. i agree with most of the comments on sugar-coated christian music, but sometimes i find you need something that is simply good for you and uplifting. other christian-based bands however though probably get more of my attention since they look into deeper subjects, and offer christian views into them. bands such as thousand foot krutch, the juliana theory, relient k, sixpence none the richer, and slick shoes offer great music with a non-worldly view on worldly subjects. they talk about everything from sex to abortion to death in a way that everyone understands without promoting worldly views... personally it works great for me. i love music and it satisfies my desire for some misery or loudness sometimes, without compromising my beliefs.
