"Is It Luck?" as written by Les Claypool, Reid L. Iii Lalonde and Timothy W. Alexander....
My socks and shoes always match
Is It Luck?
There's a foot at the end of each of my legs
Is It Luck?
I can play my bass for you
Is It Luck?
Some girls like to kiss my face
Is It Luck? Is It Luck?

There's food inside your mouth today
Is It Luck?
The barber cuts your hair just so
Is It Luck?
When the taste of sex is on your lips
Is It Luck? Is It Luck? Well Ler

These songs always sound so fast
Is It Luck?
Polyester makes you sweat
Is It Luck?
If a graham cracker gets you off
Is It Luck?
Love, love,
Is It Luck? well Herb

She said she wanted my body and not my mind
so I showed her my dictionary to show the
words that I know and from not what I examined
I can be how loquacious when I set my mind down to it

And she wasn't impressed

no no no no no no no
no no no no no no no
no no no no no

She wasn't impressed at all.
She whispered in my ear!

She whispered in my ear
she said, "You want to get lucky little boy?"

Oh I smiled

I smiled and I said, "Is It Luck"

General CommentTo me, this is one of the all-time quintessential Primus songs out there.

    Anyway -

General CommentMaybe its about how some things are out of our control and so down to 'luck', but other things are determined by how we live and our choices in life. For example whilst it might be luck that we were born into a wealthy society (in relative terms) where we aren't starving as in third world countries, but we need to earn a living to pay for food. Our appearance is largely genetic but we can change it etc.

Or maybe it's a reference to fate, is it luck (predetermined) how our lives turn out or do we define it ourselves?

General CommentI'll always be amazed by how Les can possibly fret and slap at that speed for 3 and a half minutes.

General CommentI think the song is about how we take common things for granted. I think it also has to do with him being a sexual tyrannisorous.

General CommentThis song really stands out on the album... Tim goes crazy on the drums after the second verse. Les goes crazy on the bass all throughout the song before that and later after the "break." Too bad it's followed by a slowed-down grandpa singing in the shower. I wish it would've cut right into Tommy the Cat.
