Some of the most painful battles are those spent within the mind, fighting off an infectious dialogue of negativity, doubt, or anger. And so we try to hide it, acting as though everything is okay. Often, we are triggered into hating or disliking someone for what might seem to be no good reason at all. But when we look closely, we realize we aren't battling the person, we are battling the way we feel about ourselves. Sadly, solutions are few and far between. The best you can do is face the beast of negativity and chop that bitches head right off.

I think any 311 song can have different effects on people, not just one particular song. I can get chills listening to numerous 311 songs, including "Eons". I think it's a little ridiculous to say that if one song out of many doesn't do something to you or for you, then you aren't worthy enough to be dubbed a fan. They speak to their fans in different songs, whether it be "Omaha Stylee" or "Eons". It's whatever sends you to a state of euphoria that makes a song special.
This song has had so much meaning to me since the first time I heard it. To me, Eons is a song about how hard life gets sometimes, and how most people would love to just throw their burdens and problems on other people and have them take care of them. This song talks about how most of the time you don't realize that you feel hatred towards some people because they carry the same qualities that you hate in yourself. When you have a problem, don't blame other people...just "shut it down" and learn from the experience, and move on.

I totally agree with you hurleychick, 311's music has so many positive messages without being too sugery or "poppy" - which is rare. I absolutely love them. They're the kind of band that will never get so popular that they'll end up compromising themselves.
i think i read this on the 311 BB, go to a dark room...relax put this song on medium volume, and when it gets to "not an even field" see what you do..if nothign happens you dont deserve to call yourself a 311 fan. by 311 fan, i am going by the definition stated by all five members in ETSD 2.
this song is so special to me. as soon as i heard the guitar the first time i heard the song, i knew it was going to mean something to me.
