because cuttin through the crap is my specialty
like a bomb, I'm dropping yes, a ton of lead
you're trying to figure out the last thing I said
I'm a redwood, I love to be a tree, yes I'm a druid
my words are flowing out like a fluid
never give in never conform
I'll be bustin' out rhymes in a triplet from
can't hear the birds sing
a light powdered snow on the ground is glistening
vipers slither atop a colder ground they quiver
a crack in the sky snow is falling and inside we shiver
while I doze I suppose I could get lost
with a brownskin friend claiming kin to crazy horse
I stink of vino, my greasy clothes are rancid but
I tip the bottle back the spirits are in me kid
into the flash and flames of my crazy nature
firewater, the world's a mixture
of broken liquored people get the picture
firewater, call it liquid rapture
into the flash and flames of my crazy nature
firewater, the world's a mixture
of broken liquored people get the picture
I'm rather liquored, light flickers
I got the shakes and jitters
I roll I'm like raging bull bumrushin the show
hand to my head sway in the fire i've waded into
all alone except for the whiskey voices
whores laugh neon signs flash other choices
I stagger stumble to toast the past while I mumble
slur my song slow porno show marquee words crumble
into the flash and flames of my crazy nature
firewater, the world's a mixture
of broken liquored people get the picture
Firewater, call it liquid rapture
into the flash and flames of my crazy nature
firewater, the world's a mixture
of broken liquored people get the picture
smoking the green weed and your head is sorta blinking
you're going with the flow and everybody is getting plowed
and the voices and the music and the noise is getting loud
you got a heavy buzz when seven o'clock rolls around
so you pile inside the clunker start heading down town
only nineteen but you know where you can get it
so you slide inside the bar and everything is hitting
by about eleven o'clock, your brain is near dead
you really cant remember who was the one who said
let's go into the bathroom and meet this guy Chuck
he's got a thirty dollar white powder pick me up
ten minutes later the whole vibe has changed
you try for conversation but you know you're acting strange
your eyes are wide open but your smile is gone
you just keep fiending till the fucking break of dawn

this song is obvious, its about drinking firewater(alcohol) and sadly about a kid who goes overboard.

Yes it is about alcohol, but it's not a sad song. It's about just being drunk and staying drunk, with a lil' bit of drugs on the side. I play this song loud as hell everytime I'm about to go out with my friends cuz it gets me in the mood, and whether watching football or something else, we binge drink....sometimes to the early hours of the morning, and I got some funny stories and great times....and oh, by the way, a high tolerance level. But mixing drugs in with it is somethin I don't do, cuz thats just gonna make you forget your name and get you in jail if you go out in public like at a bar. Still, this song f'n rocks hard as hell, and make sure you listen to the regular version and not the slow-mo.

BEER

It is kind of a sad song actually...it starts out as just a good time and ends on a sad note with the kid doing cocaine and feeling like crap because of it, but still wanting to do more 'just keep fiending til the fuckin break of dawn'

I also think this is another warning to stay away from hard drugs directed towards the youth who listen to 311...a common theme in several songs. Nick's trying to do a bit of public service with songs like this.

Hard drugs wack=weed good, in the matter of speaking.

If anyone has done cocaine enough to relate to the last few lines of this song then you know EXACTLY what they mean. HAHA, spot on Nick Hexum, spot on.

this songs about a typical night startin out fun n fine and one thing leading to another. its obvious that nick has struggled with cocaine just from references from other songs who knows maybe the kid is him

it's obvious the kid is him. i like the way 311unity said it "a public service." that's exactly what he's doin. hey, don't get me wrong. cocaine can be fun, and gettin wasted and goin to bars is cool, especially when you're 19 and you feel invincible. but heed the wisdom words of experience: cocaine and alcohol don't mix. it's a good way to keel over quick. my favorite line: "you're eyes are wide open but your smile is gone. you just keep fiendin til the fuckin break of dawn" like killa said, nick is spot on.

where is this song/what album
